Yes, seen plenty of portfolios on deviantart. Not a member on there myself, but some of the members on there are amazing image creators!

I always found DA to be quite slow. I do have an account on there, created years ago (so a free one), but never used it.

So I personally use Flickr Pro account. Some people say that Flickr is slow for them while DA whizzes along, so I suppose I'm just unlucky.

There is some serious talent on both of them though

I think the trick to both Flickr and dA is to use them when the yanks are asleep
