Afternoon all, Ive wanted this monitor for a while to go with my new build then eventually have 2 of them ..... just cause its what i want haha

Ive been given the go ahead to buy now so just looking for some real life feedback of the monitors ........ read plenty on line and had some other monitors threw at me but im stuck with this one unless people who've had them tell me not to....

Thanks

we've purchased the 2713 (i forget whether theyre the H or HM, its the better of the 2 i can tell you that much) instead of thunderbolt displays. no problems to report.

ive not used them, only set the things up though. its sacrilege that one only gets used for email and admin o_O

That would be the H then, I cant afford 2 H's so ive settled with the HM.

Depends what you class as better... The H has a wider gamut but still doesn't cover full AdobeRGB whereas the HM covers the entire sRGB gamut anyway. As most photographers use sRGB the "reduced gamut" isn't a negative and may be a slight positive, being more accurate with sRGB (or so a couple of very in depth reviews suggested).

The HM also uses LED backlighting rather than CCFL which means it's slimmer, uses less power and more importantly for me produces a heck of a lot less heat.

I have the HM (and took a conscious decision to get it over the H) and the only negative is the anti glare hatching Dell have on it. I can't remember now of the H "suffers" from that as well.

I wouldn't buy a returned screen at all... Major reasons for returning almost exclusively include excessive backlight bleed and dead pixels... Neither of which you'll want!

H and HM use the same LED backlighting. The anti-glare is the same too AFAIK. The advantage of the H over the HM is higher effective bit depth as well as hardware calibrating. Both are worthwhile if you can afford them (and are willing to buy an i1 display pro....).

I really like my hm2713hm, but it took a while to get used to! At first i was aware of glow round the edges but the trick is to make sure you are looking at the screen at 90 degrees as much as possible and this usually means tilting it as far as it will tilt. I actually set my desktop background at 100% black to help me optimise the viewing angle as with quite a large screen the corners will always be viewed off axis giving some slight ips glow. Some people complain about "cross hatching" but this is only visible when looking really closely at the screen. Make sure you buy it from a vendor that shows the revision number as some earlier models had noted issues like yellow tint etc. I think "A01" is the current version.

Firstly thanks for all the comments and secondly how do you find out the version number??

Sorry to be thick, if YOU have this monitor and it makes everything look WOW, if I don't have it .... What will the images look like for me?

It won't make them anything other than correctly coloured (assuming calibrated).

You cannot account for other people's bad screens no matter what you do.

Assuming that was the question?
