Any one own a Canon 760D?

I am now finding my 7D too heavy to lug around all day when out and about. I do have an EOS-M (original) but am not entirely satisfied with using that, mainly due to the fact that it doesn't have a view finder and is almost impossible to use on bright sunny days.

I want to stick with Canon, due to my collection of lenses and other Canon equipment. Whilst I accept the 760D would appear to be a backward move compared to the 7D, it is much lighter/smaller, but does offer a good spec for a Rebel body.

I have had a quote off one of the online suppliers to part-exchange my 7D body, plus the EOS-M and kit lens, but despite the fact the 7D shutter count is only 3800 and the EOS-M is even less, they came back with a figure of £350 for the lot, which is not acceptable.

Has any one got a 760D, if so what do you think of it, warts-and-all?
 
My sister in law has one. I think it's a great bit of kit. Good specs with great IQ.

Build quality is obviously not 7D quality, but the whole thing felt solid enough.
 
I bought one the week they came out and think it is a superb camera.
I had a 550D, before the 760D. Huge jump in quality form the 550D,
Picture quality, low light sensitivity, frame burst is much better.
Pixel count much higher, great camera all round in my opinion.
Not a heavy camera, unless you have a Sigma 150-500 stuck on the front like I do most of the time :p
I wouldn't say it's much of a backwards step from the 7D, the 760D is much newer technology.
Just my opinions, some will no doubt disagree and some will agree.
 
I have no experience with the 760, but have you considered a 70D? Older tech but dropped to a price point now that could make it worth considering.
 
Thanks jj and Keith. I also have a Sigma 150-500, which at the moment is on my 7D and tripod waiting for the super Moon tomorrow.

I find the quality of images from the EOS-M better than the 7D, but as I said earlier, it's not that good in bright conditions, plus I don't really need two bodies these days. The 760D looks to be a great all-round camera.

Sorry, Paul, I missed you off my last post, I was typing at the same time as you, but you beat me to it...:)

I think the 70D is also becoming a bit long in the tooth and spec wise, the 760 is better, although micro lens adjustment would be nice, which I have never had to use on the 7D with any of my lenses.
 
Not sure the 760D has better spec than the 70D but the "Rebel" xxxD cameras really have come on leaps and bounds over the years
 
I must admit that the lighter weight appeals, but will a typical amateur user see an improvement in the 760D over the 70D. One video review I watched said the 70D was still slightly better in low light. Swings and roundabouts I suppose, as you say.

Have you considered selling them on here? It'd be a better price than from the dealer.

I sold my 450D here on the forum and got a decent price, probably because it was just before Christmas. I had considered advertising my 7D here, but the last couple to sell did hang about for a while, so might give it a try later in the year. I'm not using it much these days, so the shutter count won't go up by much.
 
Another thing with the 760D, the specs say you get about 490 photographs from a fully charged battery.
I took over 1400 at an air show in July, the battery indicator only went down one notch.
So battery life is superb too.
