Yes
Thinking about this, at the moment we are very much out of date not even got an HD box let alone any version of Tivo. ours is a very old box with no fancy stuff at all, it talks about connecting the V6 to your hub to view TV on tablets ect, well i don't want any of this so can you just connect it to the TV.

In leymans terms yes you can just simply connect it your TV.

Are you with Virgin? You say you haven't even got a Tivo box.

The V6 is only available to Virgin cable subscribers and will need a fast -100mb/fibre connection - to work. If you meet that criteria then contact them and be prepared to bluff your way through. It will cost a minimum of £46 to put on top of your existing contract and you'll be lucky to get that.

I am a Virgin customer its just my box predates Tivo, its a free upgrade with no extra on my normal contract costs,if they fit it there is a £40 charge but if i self fit no charge,i have the fast broadband connection but i dont see its actualy needed if i dont connect it to my hub and only use it for Virgin TV channels.
I dont use Netflix or anything like that if i want a film i buy the DVD, we only watch TV on a TV not phone or tablet.

Yeah. I've got a V6. It plugs in the telly and lets me watch the telly :)

It's actually really (really) good. If I hear a series is good and start recording from episode 3 then it will automatically go and find episodes 1 and 2 for me on catch up. I've never wanted to record 6 shows at once but in the past I've hit Sky's 2 at a time limit and the v6 is way better.

Also, I know you say you don't have Netflix - but it does interface with Netflix really well too.

If it's free, get one.

Just seen that it's now going to be free for all customers. Wish I hadn't paid £46 for the upgrade in November now :(

I fitted mine and it can be tricky if it refuses to talk to your TV or PC but just phone them up and they'll complete it remotely

The advantage of being able to record 6 programmes is that it allows for more overlap. There where times on the old box (3 programmes at any one time), we had to be on the ball and cancel at least one during the end credits or the next one wouldn't record.

I've got two, one downstairs, one upstairs.
It needs an internet connection for some of the services, this can be over wifi but it's much better over ethernet. I used powerline adaptors for this.
So much faster menu system than the old boxes, physically smaller, 6 channels recording at the same time, actually a very good box. All just plugged into the TV.

Then because it's internet connected, you can add the virgin app to your phone/tablet and watch live TV, recordings, set recordings etc.

Oh and mine cost me nothing to upgrade. I did however have to have the technician out 3 times as it needed a signal booster, despite being 200 yards from the cabinet.

I had mine installed last february, within two days the remote control packed up so they posted me a replacement. this packed up after about a week so they sent an engineer out who gave me a third remote. About two weeks later the box kept freezing on certain recordings, funny thing was it was always on the same programmes. Virgin engineer came out, hadn't got a clue what it was so changed the box. Touch wood its been ok ish up to now. It occasionally freezes up and needs switching off at the mains to reboot, which seems to take ages, having said all that. I'm one of those unlucky people who doesn't seem to be able to ever just buy something and it works straight out of the box.
One thing that is missing though is any 4k content, that was one of the selling points when it was first announced.

Just placed an order for my free upgrade go the V6.
Our Tivo box is old and starting to stutter and drop sound occasionally so this will be most welcome.
As we are on an old hub they are sending out a new hub 3 too.
