Any motorbiking photographers here?

Sorry about the delayed reply, have been away since Friday.

RVF - Until recently Triumphs had plastic tanks, so I've got a Baglux on mine. Can't say I know if magnets might be a problem, but I think I'd be cautious too.

Photostar - Oops, Sorry. Can't find the "embarrased, shouldn't make assumptions" smilie.:)

P.S.

There are, for want of a better word, strap on tank bags available, rather than the magnetic types.
Model specific from Triumph, or general purpose from the usual sources.

Were you one up or two up? We will be two up, which is a bit limiting on space. Him indoors wants me to learn to ride so I can have a bike of my own but I said ..........no!!

One up this time. When two up you have to use a rear box and i the defer to a tank bag as well. Yiu can still us sat nav without any problems.

have a look at the BMW R1200GS love mine

There were four or 5 of them with me when i was away and yes they certainly looked the part. None with pillions though. Suppose it depends if you want a sit up and beg type of a sports type for the rider.:)

If you get a 1200GS - make sure you have European breakdown cover.

The 1150 was more reliable and are still sought after, plenty of 1200s for sale though. 1150s usually sell within a day or two of coming on the market - 1200 is known to have some "fragile tendencies" - like the frame cracking at the gearbox mounting, left side.

From what you say though, you are not too keen on a twin. I have never had more 3 cylinders (and that was 2-stroke which drank fuel like pouring it down the drain.)

Many thank to all who have responded to my posts. TP is such a great site....there can't be a subject in the world that someone on here doesn't know something about!

We now know that a tank bag, well padded, is the way to go for carrying camera gear, so thanks. We have still not decided which bike to go for even though we have now tested a few........but we do like the sound/feel/look of the Triumph Tiger (especially with the "not MOT compliant" exhaust fitted ) Might even end up with three at this rate......our CBR 600F for around town and short trips, a Tiger for medium trips and ....something else for the really long ones!!!:lol::lol::lol:

I thought long and hard about learning to ride myself, but I know it's a step too far for me.

So now I have been looking at the atlas and Guy and I fancy doing the around the Med trip. Loads of folk have done it and from reading various blogs on t'internet, it sounds as though it should best be done in a group. Perhaps one day a TP outing...... of about three months and a hundred 4G cards???????;)

xx
