Any London Cabbies on TP

Will have a overnight stay in Central London near Victoria Station in March so I am going to take advantage and see a show while I'm there at The Harold Pinter Theatre in Panton Street. My hotel is a two minute walk from Victoria Station.
Anyone know the approximate taxi fare from Victoria to the Harold Pinter theatre ? I don't know London all that well
 
I'm sure there will be someone along soon with advice about taxi fares. I don't know if you have a need for a taxi or if you just want to make the trip easier(which a taxi certainly will), but the journey on the Tube is fairly straightforward -

One stop northbound on the Victoria Line from Victoria Station to Green Park Station. The walk from there to the Harold Pinter Theatre is about half a mile, or

One stop northbound on the Victoria Line from Victoria Station to Green Park Station, change at Green Park on to the Piccadilly Line for one stop to Piccadilly Circus. The theatre is about 200 yards from Piccadilly Circus.

If you are able to, i would download the CityMapper app. Enter your route and it gives an estimate black cab price.
There's also Uber the mini cab company that would be cheaper and can also give you a fare estimate in advance
 
You do well to try and find out

My wife due to illness finds the escalators on the tube too fast so we took a taxi from Euston to Earl's Court

After we'd set off he said through the speaker, I carnt go fru the centa of laaaundun cause theys a demonstrashun on so I gotta go raund

We were stuck in traffic most of the way , I watched gobsmacked as the meter ticked away to £36

No, he didn't get a tip.

City mapper looks good , thanks. Will probably just jump on the bus. Theatre doesn't look far from bus stop.

I assume buses are exact fare only?o

I'm a big uber fan. The service is great, the prices are reasonable. If you have a smartphone you can book it from your hotel room and see where they are. Heck book one from the theatre to pick you up again.

To me it is what black cabs should have done and missed out on.
 
I can see why black cab drivers are upset with uber, but as a customer I think I'd prefer them
If they quote a price and get stuck in traffic for an hour, what happens to cost?

Are you sure that they can? They are very heavily regulated as I understand it. Can a hackney cab operate as a private hire vehicle?

I routinely use the tube when in London (and wish Bristol had one our the buses are infrequent and unreliable), but on the handful of occasions where a black cab has been more appropriate I've found the drivers to be helpful and polite and the fares to be reasonable.
 
We still have donkey carts in Wales

Yes you can prebook a black cab as well. Personally I don't find it that convenient in the ways you've got to do it. The uber app is in my opinion so much better, the vehicles are much more comfortable as well. And you don't have to have cash on you or be concerned whether they take cards or not.

But choice is good. Given the choice I've found uber much more convenient.

I used to hate visits to London when using the tube- too fast, no idea where you are, too hot and too crowded. Spent a week down there on a training course and decided to take the bus as often as posssible. Suddenly a nice London appearedd. Half an idea where places existed in relation to each other, could see sights and never appeared as crowded/ hot as the tube was. Now a London by bus fan
