Any Lee Child book fans?

Just watched the trailer, he doesn't sound as menacing as i would have pegged Reacher to be

Of course not....He's Tom Cruise. He couldn't menace a smurf.

He's about as menacing as a slightly annoyed hamster.

I do tend to read books in published order when I am starting new authors I must admit. And am doing so with the Harry Bosch series. Although I might skip the Flynn first one. Im re-reading the Ian Fleming Bonds on and off and going through them in order also.
OCD or something I expect.

the flynn mitch rapp books need reading in chronological order, not published order - the first one is 'american assassin' then 'kill shot' then the order of publication

term limits is not a series novel - although its very good

Why Clarkson! You! You! Grrrr!

Cheers moose!

What about the following authors, any views?

David Baldacci
Jeffrey Deaver
Mark Billingham
Reginald Hill
Ian Rankin

Baldacci isn't half bad, Rankin has a few good ones as well

Not sure about the others

Deaver's good (imo)

scaredy cat

the rest of the series are

lazy bones
the burning girl
lifeless
dead and buried

As far as the books go I've read the first fifteen and thought they were mostly good reads though I'm not a fan of the flashback style a couple of them employ, couldn't get into to 16 The Affair at all and I notice he's got another out now, number 17 - A Wanted Man.

Its buried - not dead and buried , mea culpa

Rebus is back in 'Standing In Another Man's Grave' next month. AFAIK, Siobhan Clarke and Malcolm Fox (The Complaints) are in it too.

Thanks for the heads up, will keep a look out for it.

that trailer is laughable..even *I* would make a better Jack Reacher as at 5ft 9 and 15 1/2 stone, more robust than Mr Cruise!!!

that'd be interesting - "I said I wanted a damn push chair" , Reacher snarled reaching for his Steyr automatic , "your level of customer service is unacceptable and actions have consequences"

welcome to my world of thinking of **** customer service.

WE bought some chicken on Saturday, buy monday it smelled a bit "off". Sharon wanted to bin it.. I marched down to the butchers.. twins in the pram to express my displeasure..

"well it's in a plastic bag"
"Who the **** put in in the plastic bag...?" (that would be you, Mr Butcher)
"oh .. er .. I'll replace it then."
"Yes"

I am really getting intolerant of everything.. including the AA and First Eastern Counties!

Asv I recall (from die trying) Reacher reviewed the glock for the marines and found it wanting and recomended the Beretta 92F instead

I'm not sure it translates too well to raw chicken - but you may have more in common than you think

nor am I...

I think is safe to say neither takes ***** but JR is a lot bigger and stronger than me!

yep - Jack Reacher could probably get down an inflatable slide in one piece , and what he'd do to someone who propositioned him in a bird hide doesnt bear thinking about ;)

Since my dad introduced me to the Jack Reacher books I had to read them all and look forward to when the next one comes out.

From my point of view Russell Crowe or Gerard Butler would be my choice especially if they decided to make a film out of "the affair" with that certain chapter :whistling:

I just can't believe Tom Cruise is playing Reacher, major disappointment, don't get me wrong I love Tom in Top Gun and Few Good Men but he's no Jack Reacher!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to read books in order!

That really made me giggle!

Although I disagree with Tom Cruize's casting, the new full length trailer currently on IMDB does look quite impressive! Casting aside, it looks like it'll be a pretty good movie, all the more shame they haven't got someone more suitable as Reacher...

I thought the trailer confirmed my doubts about Cruise, personally. I'll be giving it a miss.

Did anyone else think the backing music sounded remarkably similar to Mission Impossible?

Can't say I heard the similarities?

And I did say Cruise aside...

The second it kicked it at the 1 minute mark I thought Mission Impossible...that will drive me mad if no one else can hear it :bang:

just watched 1/3 of the trailer. What a pile of poo...

Reviving this thread slightly, is Sebastain Faulks' Birdsong any good? Im guessing its not a thriller type book as such and have therefore ignored it.
Is it all romantic twaddle or is it any good?
Any blokes read it and liked it?

its okay if somewhat depressing and slow to start - don't be expecting high action.

Thanks for the input but dont think it's my cup of tea to be honest. Seems more of an "intellectual" kind of book and I dont get on with those. Wot wiv me bein a bit fick an everyfink innit. ;)

Give me a Wilbur Smith or an Ian fleming and Im happy!
