Any knife/weapons collectors on here?

Well no wonder my ganzo never turned up just received a letter from border force saying it had been seized due to the seller not accurately describing the package contents correctly! and also that it was imported to uk contrary to prohibition in force?..It was a lock knife not illegal to own or illegal to import I didnt think

Check bb forums Stuart, often a letter to customs will get it cleared.

cheers paypal have refunded me already but not amused. The letter referred to it as a gravity knife!

What you need to be aware of here is that although possession of most types of knives is legal in the UK, they are made in China where possession of most of our knives is illegal, and it's also illegal to manufacture them.
I haven't got the regulations in front of me but they are tough, and cover all sorts of things including the angle of the point.

These regulations follow on from a terrorist incident in which over 100 people were killed by knives, so it's understandable I think.

Because of the regulations, sales within China must be low, and so they are made for export - but as they have been made illegally they are very likely to be mis-described on customs declarations, HMC know this and are very likely to open parcels as well as to X-ray them.
I don't think that we can expect HMC to know everything, so maybe we shouldn't be surprised if they think it's a gravity knife.

So is it worth me trying to get the knife or will I be banging my head against a brick wall?

It must be worth trying, but for future purchases it might be a lot safer to buy from UK sellers

Stuart seriously read the threads on knives and the law over on bb. It's a catchall phrase that customs use and often a simple letter or email will get it released. Unless it's not of sufficient value for you to worry about.

Hi mate yes I will take a look as I would like the knife and the fact they are describing it as something it isnt is frustrating.I am guessing gearbest have labelled it up as electronic parts or a sponge cake knowing them!

.22 VMach stage1, 97k and a O/U Betensolli 12g here.

Brother 1601 cometh, silly cheap price at gearbest.

That's the Brother, no, no it's not a Spyderco Manix it's just looks very very like one 1601 :D

You been watching Fred on gear obsession by any chance mate?..lol
I was tempted to order that and another ganzo but having my last one seized has put me off to say the least!

Very impressed with this, it's so well made. The blade is dead centred when folded, nicely sharp and looks and feels so much like a Spyderco.brother.jpg

Beside the BB Forum Spyderco for comparison.

Oops I did it again!

Saw that one of the BB forum members has designed a bushcraft knife which is now being sold as a Black Fox Vesuvius by Heinnie.

5mm thick blade, G10 scales, kydex sheath with a fancy belt loop thingy, a small firesteel and a couple of bits of paracord :)

Just buy a Chinese copy :D

This is the pride and joy in my collection. Got my nephew to hold it for size comparison, he was 8years old when I took this. Sako TRG-42 .338 lapua magnum. It gives a fairly nice kick:)

Blimey, are you a sniper?

My original Boker TT1 has a bit of play but the red HH version is solid.

wow! that far worse than my green one is.

Yeah really gutted its quite bad but hh said its the first they have heard of blade play on the hh tech tool one in over a 1000 sales..typical it had to be me that got the lemon lol

First hand made knife, A Finnish puuko from Poland :) It feels so comfortable in the hand it's as if it was just for me! I'm going to make a proper Scandinavian sheath for it though the one it came with is basic at best.

Liking it

I've just received these two blades from a Polish custom knife maker, Marcin Tomaszewski (Killrathi on British Blades). I'll sort some nice bits of timber for the scales.

New blades 02a by Dave O'B, on Flickr

I finally got round to putting handles on these two. The top one's finished, the bottom one is part way through being profiled. I used some rather nice quarter-sawn laburnum for the top one. What do you think?

The wood is nice but the pins are really excellent, good job there. I've had it in mind to buy one of his blades (my Puuko ^ is one of Kilrathi's) and handle it just to see how it goes. I've got some white oak that would make nice if boring scales but it would need a clean blade.

Go for it, all you need is some wet & dry and a bit of elbow grease to clean up the blade.

Though I've bought a few knives I've not really been moved to post pictures until this one..

Boker Plus Wasabi, it's a thing of beauty :D. Size wise it's about the same length as a techtool1 but much much lighter.

I saw these on HH and was quite tempted myself!

Not bought a blade for some time but saw an example from a Romanian maker Hellize of a Sgian Dubh and decided I wanted one too :)

Good to see some more activity on this thread!

I've just come across Neill Schutte. His work is influenced by the late Rob Brown (he made my hunting knife), and Bob Loveless. Have a look here: http://www.schutteknives.co.za. I'm seriously impressed, but he doesn't publish prices and I'm guessing around 500 USD upwards. Not sure I can afford that at the moment, but I might get a quote. My wife thinks I should...
