Any knife/weapons collectors on here?

Saw that just today, there's a guy on BB looking for a "non threatening" folder, that would fit the bill nicely :D

Yeah was going to get her a pink squeak but she saw this and loved it! Brownie points ahead I feel

My wife carries a Spyderco Bug (bit less expensive than the LionBeat) and a Photon Micro Light on her keyring and is pretty happy with them. The Micro Lights are worth checking out if you need a tiny, good quality, keyring light that takes replaceable lithium button cells.

My missing GB purchase turned up today almost two months to the day it was sent. Dinky little (can just get two fingers round the handle) green back locking SRM, as usual it's scary sharp and very well made.

That handle design is very nice!

Two knives arrived today from Gearbest, only just over two weeks from ordering too.

Both are from Tekut, the Pecker is tiny and needs three hands to open the bleedin thing!

The Pengu one is an entirely different kettle of fish, beautifully designed, oozes quality and the first knife I have ever bought that I can open with one hand, without modification.

Both are not up to Sanrenmu sharpness though.

The Pengu is almost not quite a Spyderco enough to appeal to me :D

Would any of you knowledgeable chaps know where I can buy a D guard Bowie knife in the UK or possibly Europe? To traditional design with no stainless steel and no silly CSA stamps, plus a decent length (15" + blade I would guess). I can only find them in the US and the postage almost doubles the price!
Many thanks in advance!

PS Do I I count as a weapons collector? I have four swords and three black powder long arms.

Give the guys at heinnie haynes a call they maybe able to help

Stu, I'm back in the game. Uk legal folders you'd recommend?
Nice one mate..I haven't used one but the spyderco urban gets great reviews.Slightly smaller than the ukpk and better steel apparently. My fave though is the enzo pk70 flat grind cracking knife.

I'm away from home this week but as soon as I get home I'm going to order a CRKT Liong Mah Folder from heinnie. It's uk legal with 4mm thick 7cm blade!

As soon as I get home this weekend I'm ordering a CRKT Lion Mah uk legal folder from heinies. I like the idea of a 4mm thick 7cm blade. Here's a video of the serrated version though I'll go for the straight myself.

I looked at them Hugh when HH had part serrated one at almost half price

I'm not very keen on serrated blades. They have some, more specialised, uses but they're not as versatile as a plain edge and are a pain to sharpen.

Ordered one of those Boker-mini clones from Fasttech last night. Looks quite a nice little knife and quite EDC friendly

I agree but its not too bad to do on a sharpmaker

look forward to seeing what you think of it.I am just window shopping at the mo on HH lol

It's a nice big well populated window :D

Took a few days as it was out of stock when I ordered but here it is, the Liong Mah UK legal folder from CRKT :) It's a solid knife but not overly heavy even though the blade is 4mm thick at its widest point.

Nice mate I have actually shifted a fair few of mine on BB

Good news for you, you must pm me your forum name there, I can't figure which is your stuff :)

Since I posted earlier I also got a PM on BB I've got one of the forum knives coming. If I'm going own one Spyderco it might as well be a limited edition :D

Hi mate username is snakemanstu...I was tempted by the forum knife how do i go about getting one

Put your name on the list and hope there's one left over! Phase 3 sticky thread in the production knives forum.

Looks nice and chunky, Hugh.

Nice surprise when I got home tonight...

Nice, do like the blade shape.

Nice mate how much?..seen a few of these cropping up in classifieds but been bit slow to grab one.

I've got a basic Mora Companion carbon that I use for camping trips.

It's a good knife but hard to keep in good condition due to the carbon blade. I also really stuggle to get it razor sharp. I use a 1000 and 4000 waterstone but think it must just be cheap rubbish, it gets it sharp but not "hair popping" sharp.

Moras are great knives and i have the exact same knife and trust me it would shave ya eyebrows off no problem!! Maybe your sharpening technique?

It might well be my technique. I've read that they are supposed to be really easy to sharpen because of the large bevel, but I seem to struggle to get it razor sharp. I've watched countless videos online and my technique seems to be similar to theirs, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe I ruined the edge in thr beginning when my sharpening technique wasn't that good?

Fifty three and a half squids Stuart. Opens nicely with the thumb but definitely a two handed closer, the midway detante is very sharp and strong on closing so there's little chance of ever getting your finger caught by accident.

I have a Mora Robust and it holds an edge really well. Scandies are hard work I think to sharpen because you have such a large bevel to work on but at the same time the bevel is a good guide so...

Have any of you guys seen the 'Custom Knives' on Heinnie Haynes website? I daresay they're high quality, but they start at expensive and go up from there, and they're certainly not custom made by any definition I know!

One on the classifieds now for £60 was tempted

£60 is getting close to naughty though unless it includes postage.

I'd be terrified to use one of those £1.5k knives in case I scratched it.
