Yes
I have a small collection of different types of film cameras (I say "small" as I suspect that plenty of you have many more than I do).
They are fun to use, but often odd, slow or quirky, they don't generally suit the various challenge threads here which are image based. I'd like to be able to use them for a challenge in their own category and see the efforts of others with their similar cameras.
I'd like to propose a non-competitive challenge where we can use our old cameras to suit a particular category by posting a set of images, say around six or more from a roll or half roll/ bunch shot on your old xxxxx camera, based on a theme such as " a day/weekend/holiday/outing" at "such a place/activity" using your old kit. If it's not a familiar camera to most, we could add a little detail about the camera.
We could invite entries during each month, posting anytime during the month from film shot during the last few months, using a different category of camera each month.

Here is a possible list of camera types (in no particular order):

Manual SLR (non-auto focus/ exposure etc) maybe 70s and 80s cameras.
Rangefinder cameras. 50s & 60s, but later versions too.
Scale focus cameras.
Fixed focus camera.
Folding camera.
TLR camera.
Auto metering/exposure/focus etc SLR.
LOMO/Holga style.
Russian beauties.
P&S compacts.
Plus other(s) I may have missed.. (I was going to suggest British made cameras, but there's not many of them?).

All in any film format. We can post sets from more than one camera, a new separate post for each camera (I've got a few rangefinders that I might like to use).
No judging or scores, just the pleasure of using your old cams and sharing images from them.

Would anyone be interested in joining in?.... Do you think that the list captures most kit? Would you like to suggest things to help it be fun?

Isn't it all covered in "show us your film shot thread" where shots are posted using all sorts of cameras as well as two comps on selected subjects.

In a way, I guess it is, just no need to use any particular camera type and no opportunity to compare to images made from similar cameras.
As you say, it may already be covered, the response so far might indicate that we have enough "let's see your shots" threads already.

The thread has had around 140 views and the few responses above. Perhaps it's not a great idea.
I will use the idea as a personal project and run film through most of my collection of cameras and post them in a thread (someone may be interested).
I had done a little of that with some of my "cheap and funky" (crap) cameras. It was fun, so I will try if for my other cameras, giving some purpose to my project.

Just start a thread. You don't need to start them all at once or anything. :)

Maybe, instead of it being a challenge, just have them as open threads for images from a particular camera type (e.g. Show us yer point-and-shoot compact shots)? That way people can drop suitable images into the threads as and when they have some. People would still be able to put things into the big SUYFS thread as well, but there would be threads to peruse if you were only interested in pictures from a certain format (a bit like the Bronica thread, or the various similar digital threads).

There used to be a "simple camera" annual challenge for fixed focus/aperture, disposable and suchlike cameras, but I think it faded away for lack of support after Covid. (it's where my Double Numpty award came from :))

Yes, I enjoyed having a go at that.

I think it's a good idea, and yes there was an annual Disposable Camera Shots challenge. This is a nicer idea in a way, with more options.
Personally I like something that is a cross between a challenge and an open thread. Nice above has the idea nailed I think.

Well for SLRs cameras with interchangeable lenses they are just a light proof box and depend on the lens for results (which could be switched to different cameras that have the same mount) which can be from excellent to carp.... that is if you want to see what a lens can achieve and maybe SLRs should be excluded from the list.

I would have a go if I have the equipment.

Lets get going.

My apologies guys.... the driver for this idea was to find/create a thread in which we could share our work, produced with many different film cameras.
Perhaps I hadn't really thought it through. One point is that images from a large section of those cameras may well be indistinguishable from each other (any SLR/Auto/MF) at the size we view online. Even my rangefinders can produce images that many might not see a difference in. So... it's a flawed idea.
One or two categories might well make for interesting viewing, those that can produce odd and distorted viewing such as old, simple cameras, fixed everything cameras, modified 120/127 cameras Holga style etc. I might like to contribute to a thread like this.
