Any insight in to how this was lit?

Hi everyone, I am doing a project on this wonderful series of photos (Julio Bettincourt - "...Prestes Maia 911..."

I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight in to how this was lit? There is the obvious, visible, light source but I'm sure that that's not all. I am a bit of a beginner when it comes to lighting technique so any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Could the outside be naturally lit or does it look to you to be artificial?

Natural light with dodging and burning in post to enhance.

It's a 22 storey building and he was in buildings opposite and adjacent so it's highly unlikely to be lit.

Ahhh ok that makes sense. That's what was confusing me, I couldn't see how he could have got close enough to light it but it didn't look like natural lighting.

Go and look at any building with tiny windows and naff all interior lighting during the day and you'll see similar effect.

Also remember that these are high rise buildings in very narrow roads, so there's typically only a narrow shaft of light coming down into the street. This gives the effect of very rapid fall off into the interiors.
