Any Ideas?

Hi there,
after a few months off photography and a "divorce" (still going through)....I need to get back to it and occupy my mind.....any ideas on how to motivate myself and get back to it? (Please spare me of sarcastic comments)

Here's a trick that works for me: Choose a picture from your favourite magazine, then go out and try to better it. You may not be successful, but it will get you out there and thinking.

Go into town, and take pictures of every single pattern you see. Cars at the lights, bikes against a wall, bricks, birds, people...whatever.

I was going to say do the exact opposite of what you're accustomed to. Look into a new genre of photography. If you dig portrait and have done a lot of it, get a macro lens, etc...

Go to Borders and buy Silvershotz magazine. If that doesn't put you in the mood for some warm, monochrome fine art to get you thinking nothing will.

Start a new project or a theme. What I do in these situations is to try to just photograph a single theme. i.e what I did last time was trying to have a bicycle in every photo I took. It really works

Book a weekend break by the coast, somewhere with some history too!

Early this year I decided I'd take a [good] photo a day every day for a year. Due to uni commitments I couldn't manage it, one a day was too much, but it really kick-started me. I found myself taking walks in to areas I'd never considered before, looking at potential subjects much closer.
Try setting yourself targets. Make yourself take the camera out a set number of times per week and come back with something you're pleased with.
