My iMac is an early 2008 27" model which I had upgraded about three years ago with a 512Gb SSD and 4Gb of Ram. I've now been offered a mid 2011 21.5" iMac with a 1Tb hard disk and 4Gb of Ram by a friend of mine, but neither of us has any idea of a fair price for it, can anybody suggest a suitable price?

I intend getting it upgraded to 8Gb Ram and either a 512Gb or 1Tb SSD, which will do all I want for the foreseeable future, and the buy a photo specific monitor such as a BenQ 24" for use with it.

Does your iMac run the current software version available? I would think that would increase the value to about £500

Hi Stickytape, apologies I worded the original question badly. What I would like to know is a fair price for my friend's mid 2011 21.5" iMac with a 1Tb hard disk and 4Gb of Ram as I want to buy it from him.

See what Apple would offer on their trade in price / see what evil bay average price would be and take an in between figure so you're both happy - you get a known system from your friend at a decent price and he gets a decent price with no hassle from selling it...

Thanks Andy, that's a great idea as it means that we both get a fair deal based on realistic prices.
