As title, i'm looking for a good step by step guide to show me the potential of my cam.

I've read the manual twice, took alot in, but i need more depth than what it can offer.

I'm particularly stuck on F stops & exposures.

I can get some nice blured / foggy / misty water shots at night, when i can go long exposure, but i cant do this in daytime, as i cant compensate for the extra light.

This is my main area, but also looking into other areas aswell, depth of field, different techniques (bokeh i think? is mentioned quite alot? )

Any nudges towards good info would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Mark.

Mark, you obviously know that to get your misty water shots you need a very slow shutter speed and the camera supported on a tripod or whatever. I'm certainly no expert on this but you should be able to adjust the aperture and sensitivity sufficiently to force a slow shutter speed in daylight. Have you tried stopping the lens right down (f22-f32) and locking the ISO at it's minimum (100). If this doesn't give you a slow enough shutter speed you're going to need some graduated filters to reduce the amount of light reaching the sensor. Can't help with the reading bit i'm afraid - I rarely understand the written word and have to learn the hard way.

Iso was at 100, stopped at f32, but the whites of the waves stopped me from going any longer than 1 second, resulting in a normalish shot.

Was hoping for something along the lines of...

"here we will take a shot of this tree, if i set it to x i will get this pic, if i set it to y, i get this pic"

but i guess thats just being lazy.

Will invest in some grad filters & keep trawling the net for anything of use.

Hard to use search, when i dont know what i'm searching for too lol.

Thanks for replies!
