Any good book about short eared owl?

Hi there,

I'm a bus driver up in Orkney and I see short eared owl the whole time (tough life i know...). I like birds in general but I specially love these. I really would like to learn more about them. Any good book that you would recommend? Not only for nice picture but for good knowledge source and not the one bird per page kind of book.

PS: I read a few month ago the rspb spot light on puffin book http://shopping.rspb.org.uk/rspb-spotlight-books-robins-and-puffins.html and this is amazing to read, i learn so much about the puffin which i've been observing so many times in the past.
 
Considering it's wide distribution, there does seem to be a surprising lack of any books about them. There was a discussion about this over in this thread at the Wild About Britain forums - you'll see one of the contributors is in the process of writing a book about british SEOs.

It really deserves a monograph of the standard of Van Nieuwenhuyse's The Little Owl.

Thanks for the link Elizabeth. The short eared owls can be witness at almost any time of the day here but it's true that morning and evening are a good time. I saw one yesterday at 4pm and with the sunset being at almost 10pm now it cannot really be counted as an evening. I'm intrigued by this local paper that is in paul link i'll try to find it.

Maybe there daily appearance are related the activity of the Orkney voles which is one of their main food? I need to find what is this paper about!
