Any golfers?

Yep, having a reliable "shape" makes the fairway wider. As you say aim down the left, if it goes straight you are on the fairway, if it fades normally then in the middle, if you over cook it a bit then on the right edge. Mind you nothing helps with a wild one ;)

Just looked at two clubs locally, will pop along to them later but suspect my good lady wife will prefer the inland one (fortunately it is cheaper). See what you've started?:p

:D

Winter is time for the odd game and plenty range work, saying that I'm playing 18 holes at a lovely course on Tuesday - Forest Hills in the Forest of Dean and on Friday I'm at the Rolls of Monmouth for a 27 hole Ryder cup style event....

I'm hugely jealous, The Rolls at Monmouth is one of my all time favourite golf courses. It's stunning, enjoy :)

Hi guys,
hope you don't mind a non player asking a question!! I am looking to buy some golf balls as a Secret Santa Christmas present and was wondering what is the best balls to buy. The recipient plays off around nine or ten
if that affects what you would recommend. Is there a generic ball that would suit or are golf balls a personal taste thing for each golfer?

Budget is £15 and I don't mind if that's for a box of three balls or a dozen balls. Can any golfers advise me please? Thanks

At that level, he/she probably has a preferred manufacturer and model. Titleist are probably a fairly safe bet and will probably get used, even if it's on strange courses where he/she's expecting to lose a couple of 'em!

Thanks kennysarmy those were the ones I was looking at. Box of three for £13 fits the bill nicely,

I'm pleased I don't play it would cost me a fortune!!!

Is Amazon the best place to buy?

I am glad that I don't just forage fruit in the Summer and Autumn Jeff, because I often find loads of nearly new Pro V1's on our local damson and blackberry "hunting grounds". They are a great ball when you are hitting it straight.

I stopped playing about 7 years ago, got down to 5, but gave it all up and started playing rugby again.
reading this is getting my golfing juices flowing again!

After 3 1/2 years, I'm now finding more than I'm losing! Just about playing to my handicap (28) on a good day, although Winter tees and temporary greens (with holes like buckets!) are making rounds a little artificial ATM. Still gets me out for a couple of hours of walking a few times a week which can only be good for me!

Temp greens already?
Where are you?
Forest Hills in Coleford at the weekend after all that rain was still on full greens and fairways were great!

Only for a couple of days after torrential rain over the weekend. Should be back on the proper ones today. It's only a little 9 hole course (Exminster) but beautiful views and close to home! Only been playing for about 3 1/2 years and only known it to be closed once - because of fog and even then, it was open as soon as visibility had improved. Gets busy when all the other local places are closed because it's a relatively new course (11 or 12 years IIRC) so had decent drainage put in during the construction. The temp greens are very much the exception to the rule at this time of year, usually only come into play for a couple of months at the beginning of the year.

Looks OK - if a little short....but a driving range is a nice bonus....
