I've been considering a living flame type of gas fire for sitting room, there is a space already there for one with a gas supply when old one was there just under 10 yrs ago. Was checking up on chimney sweeps and someone mentioned outside ventilation for the room. Room is approx 20 sq yds (sorry don't know metres I'm old pounds shillings pennies guy)

Is it nowadays regulations to have a vent cut out of sitting room wall to outside for most gas fires?

Wife is not too chuffed at having a hole cut in the wall causing a draft :-(

You wil need to read the manufacturers installation and servicing instructions, it will tell you in there.

Not an expert but I believe that if you have suspended floors you can put a grill in the floor near the fire so there is no draft. And it's not sucking warm air from the rest of the house.
