I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good photography exhibitions that are on at the moment, especially in London? I'm going to be in London for the week beginning 7th March and it would be great to get some decent gallery action. Doesn't have to be the Tate or anything mainstream, often the little known shows have some of the best stuff :)

There was a really good exhibition on at Baltic in Newcastle which just finished today. It was called Blackout and had some really stunning images of Iceland taken by British photographer, Dan Holdsworth. You should still be able to catch a glimpse on the Baltic website: http://www.balticmill.com/index.php

Thanks!

Museum of London is currently running a street photography exhibition, havn't been myself yet but will go.

And I think the Bruce Davidson room is still open at Tate modern.

Oh, it's not.

Thanks Danny_Two! I'll have to check it out, sounds pretty good.

I'm familiar with a lot of American street / documentary photographers, but not so many British ones that photographed the streets of London so that's perfect.

Hi,

I went to the Wildlife Photographer of the year exhibition at the Natural History Museum yesterday and I'd say it's very well worth going (as always!). I don't think you have to be a wildlife fanatic to enjoy the images on show, and the black and white section was my favorite. Yesterday was packed, too busy, but going during the week it should be much better.

Heard good things about the Street Photography Exhib that someone else has already mentioned in the Museum of London. It's been covered alot on local TV, and does look very very good.

The Photographers Gallery (new premises now) - It's always worth going to - have a look at their website.

Lastly, there's also the Getty Images Gallery off Oxford Street (Eastcastle St) - Quite small, but also worth a visit, especially if you go into their archive section at the rear. I was seriously tempted to actually buy a print there - the first time I've ever considered buying another photographers work !!

Hope this helps,

Mark.

Is the photographers gallery open now? It's been closed for a while.

Also the Oxo on the south bank have some good stuff in at times.

Ahhh! I didn't realise they'd temporarily closed. Looked on their website, it says they're closed till Autumn 2011 as they're building new galleries.

Sorry!
