Any Canon 10-18 owners?

I'm looking for your opinion on the sharpness of your 10-18. I have one and only recently started using it but I think it is quite soft from 10mm to 14mm. I have tested on various apertures from wide open to f8 and it doesn't improve. After 14mm there is a noticeable improvement. I haven't read any reviews which say the lens is softer at the wide end, and they all agree that it is a sharp lens from wide open.

I intend to drop into my local currys and see if i can test one of there copies against my own, but in the meantime, has anyone else noticed this?

Sorry I don't have any crops to demonstrate at the moment.
 
I have this lens for my Canon C100 Mark II, it's great. It does a very good job.
I don't have a crop sensor photo camera, so I can't tell you the quality of the still images..

I've tried taking shots with mine a few times, and not been impressed when compared to my Sigma 17-50 (but that lens is exceptionally sharp). However, it's fair to say I've been using it for photographic situations I'm not comfortable with anyway and so I'm not really getting the best from it. I'll do some quick controlled test shots and see what they're like.
 
Had mine quite a while and, if I am honest, it is way5sharper than my EF-S 10-22 to the point it is keepibg the 10-22 from getting used.

As with any optics there can be glass and notwithstanding, mechanical variations too.

I've got an EFS 10-18 and for the money am quite happy with it. It's certainly not the sharpest lens I have but for what it cost and what it can do it's pretty good value and fun to play with. It even got me thinking about a dearer alternative but for the use I give it which is mainly of the 'street' category it's fine.
 
Thanks for all the replies. If I were using it mainly for landscapes I probably wouldn't be so picky. Also, it's my first proper wide angle lens and i'm not sure what to expect. I am trying to use it to take fell racing photos to capture the runner sharp and the surroundings. I have used it at two races so far. The example below was shot at 10mm and f4.5. I was focusing at about 1.5m (can't remember exactly, but about the hyperfocal distance). Some of the runners were 1m away and some as much as 5m so I thought this method would capture the majority sharp. I was hoping the detail (see the club vests) would be sharper. Next time I will focus on the subject and see how that goes. I also use a tamron 17-50mm and a canon 70-200mm f4 L. I have addedd some comparison shots below which have all been sharpened in the same way before uploading to flickr. All are shot with shutter speed above 1/500.

Maybe i am just being too picky??

Tamron 17-50mm at 17mm f4.0 (not the sharpest at 17mm, but I knew that)
