I've decided I need to change my portable flash setup and it looks like Bowens are going to be the only ones that do what I need, I.e control the individual power of two lights from a battery pack. All the others like my Elinchrom Quadras are either asymmetrical or symmetrical.

Just wondering what the build quality is like of these lights, any thoughts?

Cheers :)

Very good quality build and robust. I've had them 2 years but as I've only had a studio for the last 4 months they haven't had a huge amount of use, trying to make up for lost time now :D

I've used them briefly, great bits of kit, though the travel paks don't have too much juice in each iirc. Calumet do an add on battery of their own brand that can plug in to the pak to give you more flashes for about £60 though, cheaper than buying the official extra batteries.

If you've got heads already, check out the tronix explorer XT, it has 2 mains power sockets on it and can juice up to 2400ws of lights :O

I did have a look at the Tronix, nice little toy, might have to give that some thought, splesh as the recycle times seem a lot faster than with the Travel Pak.

We've got 3 x Gemini 500's at work, bought as a kit, which are now all mine to use :D

Absolutely excellent bits of kit. Haven't a battery unit as they are just used off the mains.
