Just getting ready to pull the trigger on a new TV, so far after not a big look around, LG OLED55C9PLA seems to be on top, anyone any suggestions,

I’m not familiar with that model, but as someone who owns an older LG OLED TV, I think you’ll be very happy with it.

OLED’s don’t go as bright as LED/QLED TV’s, but I find that isn’t really a problem as your picture is built on absolute black. In my opinion OLED colours are more accurate and realistic.

The only word of caution I’d give is that OLED TV’s are susceptible to screen burn. Make sure you have your ‘OLED Light’ turned down in the picture settings and that you’re careful when gaming or watching programmes with static on screen icons. Make sure you occasionally change channels and you’ll be fine.

If you do buy an OLED, it will give you absolutely stunning pictures.

a friend of mine bought a 65" LG oled tv and the screen burn was quite alarming for such an expensive tv at the time
the tv is less than 3 years old

Talk of "burn in" makes me think of similar warnings about plasma screens compared to LCD ones a few years back. FWIW our modest 42" screen as I recall is a plasma but thankfully has been very good for it is now something over 10 years old :)

Make sure its set up correctly, most come out of the box set way to bright and contrasty. Use a set up dvd/blu ray like currys picture perfect.

Just looked at the ‘Currys Picture Perfect’ £60! Not sure if one the dvd/blue rays we have a picture set up section,THX., sure I saw something in one of the options, the av forum often has threads on settings for various TVs.

I think I picked up my copy of Curry's Picture Perfect from CEX for a quid or so. £60 is a total rip off. That's more than the Spears & Munsil set up discs cost and they're the best ones out there.

Totally agree about using the picture set up guides on AV Forums. They're available on YouTube as well, which is probably easier to refer to when setting up the TV.

I got a copy from ebay, I think I paid about a fiver for it.

It was really from people leaving it on kids channels all day with Nickelodeon or disney logo or from gaming where there was the display perminantly showing around the edge. My first LCD had a gaming option that supposedly prevented this

I was torn between the B9 (couldn't stretch to the C9) or the Samsung QLED Q85, (couldn't stretch to the Q90) In the end I went for the Samsung. My front room gets quite bright during the day and while I don't watch TV in daytime, I will play games on the Xbox/PS4. I'm not disappointed with my choice.
