Yes
I have ants in my home! I've bought a couple of traps from Home bargains but I noticed that they were in the sink this morning! any suggestions to eradicate them? I know there are worse pests that you can have.. three ants crawling about the sink while brushing your teeth is not a great good morning though!

Thanks in advance!

If you can find out where they're getting in, you might be able to block their route (but don't bet on it - they're persistent little b-b-b-b-blighters!) Sticking a blob of Nippon somewhere on their path might deter them.

There are poisons which the ants take back to the nest as food which then kills the colony. These work better than traps. Though they may be a nuisance to us ants are a part of the garden ecosystem so I am not keen on poisoning them. Also poison obviously has to be carefully placed due to danger to pets/kids. They are only coming into your house because there is food lying around for them, so try being a bit more hygenic! jk ;)

Anyway the best solution I've found is one of those plug-in ultrasonic devices, but again maybe no good if you have pets. Also I've heard lavender repels them, but not sure if that's true or an old wives tale.

I dunno, it could have been worse.

You sure that wasn't just Cobra looking for those bathroom ants?

Over to you @Cobra...

Ficam D or Ficam W, you know it makes sense.
Exactly (y)

Traps are pretty much useless, considering there are anything from a few hundred to several thousand ants per net.

Ultra sonics, I've never yet personally seen a success story, although some people swear by them.

Basically yes, but you need to kill the queen, to end the colony.

Ficam D mixed 50/50 sugar will do it.
But keep it away from pets, especially cats and fish.

In our experience this is not sound advice, you block off they find a different way..

We had massive success with the food poison things from Homebase, workers take the poison thinking it's food back to the queen and bish bash bosh it's over. Literally few days after we put it down we had no ants.

We had ants all over my father in laws flat. Basically the place was filthy and they were attracted to food remains etc, so whilst he was in hospital we cleaned the place top to bottom, carpets cleaned, everything.
No more ants

Thank you girls and boys! The house is very clean, dare I say it - the messiest thing would be day old laundry in its laundry pot so not sure.. will do a good vacuum shortly and try your solution! Thank you!

I have them on a window sill, its a wide sill because the wall is stone. A new pvc window and still the sods are coming in. ( the ants I mean) The cat sits and sunbathes on the sill and the ants get into his fur, its a bit like ants in your pants, there is a lot of hopping and skipping about, I think I live in a mad house.o_O
