antihero's 52 2011 wk's 11 and 13 added

 Now there is an eye-opener :D

Well done Paul on creating something unique. Even though not my sort of image I think you have composed it well and effective use of DOF.

Dread to think now what you will come up with next ....... off to find my scissors and make sure they are out of reach :p

Good luck with week 5.

Cheers

Dawn :)

I like it... I'd have maybe had the dad in a wee bit more focus but not pin sharp... but yeh... it bends the theme and def needs the coment to explain your thought process...its not my sort of image either... but I like it!

Did you make the figures yourself with plastercine?

Like all your pics.

Week four made me laugh, (but i've got a weird sense of humour)

Great use of DOF, and I like the slightly surreal feel of it. the teddy bear adds to the pathos.

thanks all!

Mark, they aren't plasticine but O gauge (i think) figures made for trainsets. They come unpainted and are teeny!....

Hard As Nails

Quite a tricky one this without being really obvious (and I try to be as far outside the box as possible!!)

hard.jpg

no exif as taken fully manual with my Soligor 70-220mm 3.5-4.5 aka "The Beast" and I didn't take note of what setup I had at the time other than I had off camera flash set at 1/8. The shadows where also meant...felt it added to the image rather than flash bounced off the ceiling.

Plus...I really apologise for my lack of comments on anyone elses images...there just doesnt seem to be enough hours in the day...

Hiya Paul,

Once again a fantastic photo from you. I like the way you think outside of the box with producing your images, even though with the hint of drama.

Really like this image, and yes you were right to have the shadows as they do add to the image here.

Love the lighting and the bit of red, wow that really gives the image a story.

Well done.

Always look forward to seeing what you come up with for each week, so now waiting for week 6.

You are doing great with your project.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Paul, an excellent shot, "hard as nails" was one my other thoughts for this week, but I couldn't decide on how to do it. I really like your take on it, and the shadows definitely add to the photograph. Well done.

Soooo jealous of your ideas mate. Send some of them this way :D

Great pics well executed btw:thumbs:

Another great shot paul you are the man for ideas  well you certainly nailed that one :D ( I voted for your pic in poty by the way another great shot) well done;)

Brilliant idea Paul. Very well taken.
The shadows definately add to the image and would perhaps be even better if they could have been better defined to add to the "hard" theme.
I think the red would have looked better if pooled around the nail instead of trailing from it, either that or the image shot so that the nails are on a slope. (did that make sense)

Hi Paul

what a brilliant take on the theme

The shadows work well ,great lighting & love the pool of red .

Only niggle for me is the 4 long nails are'nt level in height & 2 don't seem to be straight but I am a touch OCD 'bout that sort of thing ,sorry

Really like the shot & envious of your ability to think sooo far outside the box ,look forward to seeing your next pictures

Thanks for everyone's input and it's all been taken on board! :)

Anyway, here's week 6!

Drowning In Clutter

Good job the wife was on a late shift, so she didn't see me dismantling drawers to do this! :) Pretty pleased with the result!

Great touch, Paul and b&w works really well.

Love the dinosaur on the left...:D

What would work really well would have been (hard to do I admit) but if you could have had you hands parting the toys and your head peeping through.

But I do like the 'rescue me from the clutter' subtext.

Cheers.

Brilliant! The idea behind it is great, love the black and white, certainly compliments the scene nicely! Only 1 little thing, the chopped of photo frame on the right hand side as we look at it, is a little distracting, but thats only a minor point. Well done.

Best clutter pic by a country mile so far. Amazing idea. How did u do the hand? Brill efect... Wish id taken it... Well jealous of ** imagination

hehe...thanks mate, and I am being honest here, that was my original idea, but was pretty impossible. Trust me, I nearly did myself a mischief trying!

Took a bit of work Mark, but involved 2 shots....one of the drawer with the toys, and another with me led under it with my arm poking through (had to remove the drawer base first obviously)...into photoshop tih both images layered on top of each other, and a bit of cloning and deleting! convert to greyscale then a splash of hdr!

Chuffed to bits how it came out!

thanks everyone!

so paul...you waited til the wife went out before you somehow got inside the chest of drawers... do you have a remote, because 10 sec timer is surely to short.. :suspect:

for me..good, clear and clean B&W ...crisp is probably another word..

luckily, I have a 20 second timer (flash was mounted on-camera), and it was still hard work scrambling under the tripod and getting my arm through the drawer in time....must have been like watching a geriatric It's A Knockout! :) :bonk:

Hiya Paul,

 I absolutely love this image and can relate to the drowing in clutter :D

The angle at which you have shot this is fab as it give a true sense of drowing, I almost find myself wanting to reach out to help pull you out of all the clutter

Also like how you have all your essentials on the top, i.e., remote control, games console, cuppa coffee, pen and camera, etc, etc.

The photo frame doesn't bother me as I think it adds a personal touch to the image.

A brilliant image and in keeping with your dark humour.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Paul. Really enjoying your 52 so far. Loads of creativity on show here so I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the future. Your photo for clutter is my favourite so far.

haha...thanks mate I can live with joint 8th :) need to get cracking with my Feb entry

Camera on tripod as high as I could get it, remove the base out of the drawer and fill it with stuff...take shot...clamber under drawer and stick my arm through it...take shot. Layer both images in photoshop and delete myself from under the drawer, just leaving my arm!

Hi Paul,
Just had a look through your 52 week shots - they are all great - particularly like the one of your little girl and her dummy and the shots with the little figures. They are all such an original approach. The black and white really works for the 'clutter' shop looks like an old horror movie:eek:

Hi Paul,
Your posts always show great creativity but this "clutter" shot is genius. Nice one,

Martin

thanks guys, don't know if i'll be able to keep this standard up :gag: there's bound to be more than a few duffers end up in here :bonk:

These shots are all FABULOUS... really - love them all...

some are so simple but they absolutely pack a punch - striking - loved the nails one and the beheaded one...

your wee baby is precious - but do leave her toys alone!!!! :nono:

mirror one is superb!

am just learning how to do layers :bonk: so seeing the hand thru the drawer one will inspire me further

very much enjoyed looking thru those...

keep up the great work!

That is really nice! It is obvious you have put alot of thought into it!! :)
