Another wide angle lens question

Thought I was sure of the answer, now not so much.

Im currently saving for a wide angle lens, i THOUGHT the Canon 10-22mm was going to be the way forward but as usual, the more I look into things the less sure I get.

I will be using the lens both indoors and outside, possibly in lower light conditions at times..

to gave an example of something coming up - I will be shooting a whole poker table, obviously this includes the players so im a little worried about the lines getting distorted at the edges... this will be one of the low light situations I was talking about.
I COULD use additional lighting though........

Im really keen for an UWA lens as other shoots will need it....

Also, currently using a Canon 40D, other lens I have include the nifty fifty, 70-200mm f4 L lens and Canon 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS.

As for budget, Im looking at no more than £500 if I can help it.

If you can stretch to the canon then go for that one. The sigma equivalent is pretty good from what I have read but is slightly slower but also a fair bit cheaper.
 
If you want a UWA then the Canon 10-22 is the only way forward but might be slightly over your budget. Its got substantially less distortion than the others, is very sharp even wide open and its f3.5 at 10mm so isnt that slow.

Shoot raw and the lens profiles in LR/PS can remove pretty much most of the distortion if any is present anyway
 
Sigma do a 10-20mm f3.5 constant aperture.
 
I'd be looking for a used Sigma 20mm/1.8, or possibly the 24mm version.
