Another "Which DSLR for beginners" thread.

Hi, I'd try to get just a little bit more coffers in the budget and go for an Oly E-510 instead if I were you.

With the E-510 you get IS (Image Stability) - which for Olympus kit is 'in-camera' rather than 'in-lens', and thus all lenses you then place on the camera will have the advantage of Image Stability. The E-510 is a better all round camera than the 'getting dated' E-410.

The kit lenses you will get with either camera are the best kit lenses you will get with any camera.

I have done that and am still in my quest to find something I will not regret. It is one of the many reasons, I am asking of people's views etc. It can go a long way you see.:)

The problem with that is what I said at the end of my post.

Everyone has an opinion and that is theirs alone.

I do not like canon as they don't fit my hand comfortably. I don't however tell anyone not to buy one as I know lots of people do like them.

If you base your decision on this thread you may never get a camera.

You have to decide, rember all the cameras can take good shots, you will make them great.

Yep,

If u can spare 100 quids more then go in for 510 twin kit lens offer ...

I am taking the plunge for 410..though dated it will suffice for my needs

cheers

Decision, decision, decisions and am going crazy. I will do another "physical test and check" at Jessops over the weekend, do more research and should buy one by month-end. Thanks for all the reply.

Haha! They'll love you when you get 5 brands out of the DSLR cabinets! In my experience, they know little about cameras! But its great to play with them! Take some memory cards with you, so you can take test pics. And pick up/check prices on the various lenses too. Remember, THATS the system you're buying into!

Confession....

popped into Jessops today...

Liked Sony A300 Lens ,the functions and the Live view so much that bought it on the spot!!!!

So no more dithering...

If you buy before the 26 th you can get additional 20 quids off in next transaction so bought a transflash 4gb as well and a cheap 5 quid jessops bag for the time being...

cheers

Oh brother where art thou! Nice one. A300 is something high on my list....who knows, I have a Ps3 and am buying a Sony Lcd for the room on friday as well, perhaps the A300 will be a nice addition to all my Sony gears lol

Got it effectively for GBP 269:)

339.99- 40 cashback, Jessops 20 cash back on next purchase - bought a 4 g memory (this promotion runs till wednesday)and 10 quid managers discount( specially for me)!!!

I am delighted with the purchase!!!

Am seeing on avforum that Sony is going to jack up the prices so in hindsight good to move quickly!!

cheers

Nice one. Not bad. Seeing that the 300 is exclusive to jessops, will there be any limitations on this dslr, and is there any much difference between this and the 350?

a300/350

Absolutely no difference except for the mega pixel though the sensor is same...

So I was told that noise on A300 is lesser than A350...

I think the amount of time I have spent on evaluating , if same energy I can show in taking Photos , I will become one helluva photographer...

Good Luck with ** quest..
