Hi
I have a 450d with the 18-55mm IS kit lens, 50mm 1.8, 70-300mm 4-5.6 IS USM and I have been learning about photography for about a year now.
I know from the reviews that the kit lens was not up to much but was determined to prove to myself that the issue was the lens a not the lack of skill behind the lens.
I think I am at the point now, as I get noticeably more keepers from the 50mm and the telephoto which always seem to be a lot sharper and a lot more vibrant in colours then the kit lens.
I am looking to replace the kit lens with something of around the same focal range. I have searched the forum but can only find recommendations for products in the 600 pounds plus range. There must be something around 300 pounds mark that is significantly better then the standard kit lens.
I would rather have a new lens then a second hand.
I take photos (or try to!) of everything from landscapes to wildlife but generally from a moving boat so it would be better if it was fast at focusing.
I’m really just looking for advice/experience/recommendations for a better quality everyday lens to compliment the other two I have.
Any ideas?
Gordon
