Hi Folks,

I have edited my website once again, changing the layout and colour schemes. I've always had a "dark style website", but I decided just to simplify it out and remove some of the irrelavent information. I may add slight colour to the logo in the top left hand side, perhaps the purple colour I am using for the links, but I'm unsure a bout this yet.

There is a lot of white space, (1920*1200 Reso) but I don't like the website to be clutered, just straight to the point.

C & C welcome as always. The code is very messy, but gradually working on sorting that out.

Cheers,

Thomas.

Really liking the new design Thomas.

Looks great and I much prefer the white to the black it used to be.

didn't expect Gartloch Hospital hiding in one of your galleries...

I like the simplicity of the design, I switch from a black scheme to a white scheme a few months ago, I personally, white works so much better...

I really must get my photography section rebuilt though :(

It's Hartwood Hospital :).

Thanks, yeah I think it is much easier on the eyes.

. It's a great explore, lot's to see in it.

I have the full gallery of images a long with a few of my other urbex photos if you are interested in them. Taken a few years ago whilst I was starting to get into photography.

I'll pm you them if you want?

T.

Like the site, only C&C is the main image loop on the main page changes so quickly, like 1 second. Maybe make it longer so people can actually take in the photo

Other than that its a great clean simple site

Thanks Dave. I'm sure it's set to about two and a half seconds, perhaps I should change it to around 3 and a half?

couple of thoughts:

yeah increase the delay on the slideshow on the front screen.

the pop up gallerys, the word "close" to close the gallery is black on a black background and only visable on hover over.

first image in the automotive gallery loads 3/4 and the rest is grey block.

automotive gallery is a bit slow in general?

the images for the company logo and the contact info look a little fuzzy on the edges?

bullet points on the automotive pricing and contact pages are running down on the border line?

thats on firefox by the way.. hope that helps :)

To be ULTRA picky, I'd reduce the spacing inbetween the:

Welcome to TRL Photography

Fully insured freelance photographer, specialising in Automotive photography. Covering central Scotland and the UK.

And I'm not sure if it is for everyone else but the last part of it 'the UK' is on a seperate line, just reduce the size a bit so it all fits on one :D. Great design though.

Got a few typos on there - spelling mistakes and grammar particularly on the About page.

Thanks Neil.

I've now upped this.

the pop up gallerys, the word "close" to close the gallery is black on a black background and only visable on hover over.

Sorted and now changed the black to the white.

first image in the automotive gallery loads 3/4 and the rest is grey block.

Not sure what you mean? If it's not too much hassel could you please send me a screen shot?

automotive gallery is a bit slow in general?

I'll try and cut down the file sizes to see if this helps.

the images for the company logo and the contact info look a little fuzzy on the edges?

I'll look into this. Not sure what could be the cause though.

bullet points on the automotive pricing and contact pages are running down on the border line?

Works okay on Chrome and IE, will work on it in FF though :).

thats on firefox by the way.. hope that helps :)

I'll see if I can fit this onto one line mate. I can see what you mean :).

Thanks, will sort this out next.

Cut down the gallery size by about 9 MB in total, doh :bonk:. Should load up much quicker now.

hhmmm, yeah I see what you mean. Unsure at what could be causing that issue. I currently use Simpleviewer for the gallery aspect of things.

Your logo doesn't take you back to the homepage, a small thing but pretty much standard

I also agree that on the homepage the fact that the words drop to a second line is annoying, and the lideshow change over is too quick

The whole of the top branding bar also doesn't come sharp at any zoom level, and having it as a picture just means people can't copy and paste the email address into their mail client

Overall though a nice, clean site

Great concept

1. remove the landscapes and commercial galleries, and keep everything on 1 topic. If you are going to promote commercial work, then don't put a soft image of a lens in as the first image. I am sure the commercial photographers on here will pitch in a lot more about this
2. The price for a car shoot is stupidly low
3. The bullet points are so far indented left, they are hitting the page border (FF3 XP-Pro)

Had a quick look and quite like the look. I thought you'd dropped a '0' off your first two prices though! How can you make money at these prices?

I like the general concept of the site, but there are a couple of things I'd like to point out.

The slideshow to me on the front page is still too quick, also not keen that the images are different sizes, the TT Quattro loads wth a white space and a line under it, none of the others do.

The main logo top left needs to be clickable.

Just a quick look at the grammar and the spelling on the about page and it could do with some looking at. Possible suggestion below.

About

My name is Thomas Lamont and I am a fully insured freelance photographer, who specialises in Automotive Photography. I am located in Falkirk, central Scotland which allows me easy access to Scotland, England and Wales. My commitment to you, is to produce the perfect selection of images which meet your requirements.

I have also looked at the pricing page (apart from being very cheap) there are also quite a few spelling mistakes on there as well as being gramatically incorrect.

Sorry haven't got time to go into mass detail on there but I would say you get the jist of it now.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I've made the following changes:

I've added a Flickr & Facebook Icon link at the bottom left hand side, so clients can follow me through either of the websites.

I've slowed down the homepage images.

I've sorted the image sizes on the homepage (I never noticed this until it was pointed out, thanks!)

I've revamped the price page, still working on the wording.

The current header is one image, I think I will break this down and make the logo and email address click-able.

I'm still trying to sort out the bullet points, only seems to be a issue with FF3 :(.

Appreciate all of the C&C

T.

Thomas - your price pages uses a table - set the CellSpace to 10 and that should solve the bullet point problem.

Hi,

Nice looking site, nicely designed, couple of suggestions, On the automotive section of the pices section, I think you could possibly do with a little bit of space above the headers (Where you have the horizontal line before the header). Also in safari, it looks like you might have 2 different types of bullet point on the Sample package section (The second bullet point looks larger and rounder).

Also on the contact page, you could do with a bit of padding between the place contact me by section and the enquiry box, and the enquiry box and the submit button (Although this may well be personal preference).

However overall really like the layout of the site, and I always worry that I am far to picky when looking at sites (Had my opinions warped by the bosses at work!)
