... in Edinburgh last Friday morning, means I now have my right arm in plaster! Radius broken just below the elbow. Cast over my elbow means I can't hold a film camera to my eye right handed, which is the justification for putting this on F&C! Theoretically a MF camera with WLF on a tripod would be doable, but my Autocord is back home, and it, like most other cameras is still very right-hand oriented. All very frustrating...
 
Ooh, ouch. Bad luck Chris.

My Rolleicord is left hand focus. I reckon it could be used with just the left hand on a tripod.

oReally bad luck Chris but don't let it stop you shooting a RH orientated SLR

I had my right arm in plaster for 11 weeks following multiple fractures.

I attached a shoulder strap to my Nikon FE , hung from; my neck with the lens facing me

Thumb located on the pivot part of the film advance lever with enough thumb to reach the shutter release.

Index finger on rear door

Other fingers on camera base the little finger wrapped over towards the front face of the camera body.

Take hold of camera and INVERT it

Put to eye, compose and fire the shutter with thumb

Allow body to hang from neck hilst advancing fiml

As for fousing I preset hyperfocal

Keep it as light as possible, ie small prime lens

A waist level finder on a TLR should be workable.

Bad luck and sympathy with the arm - I know what it's like to have a rigid right arm.

Doesn't sound much fun, especially if you fell over while sober. At least doing it while drunk is an anecdote ;)

Small compact with motorwind inverted as Asha suggested might be usable?
 
Get well soon Chris. Perhaps you could encourage Mrs Chris to be your camera operator something along the lines of The Golden Shot, left a bit, down a bit, right a bit, fire!
 
Sorry to hear that Chris and have been trying a few of my 35mm cameras to see what I would do with a broken right arm.....and some weren't too bad holding the right hand side of the body as long as your finger could reach the shutter button and what a surprise (cough) the easiest camera of all was the T70 as the lens is off centre, and the right side is wide and the body narrow to easily reach the shutton button and of course you have autowind.....there you go guys if you break your right arm get a T70 o_O

looking on the bright side, you should be able to handhold a silly slow shutter speeds with a rigid arm.........somehow..:)

stevie will bolt a ball head on your elbow for a nominal fee I'm sure....

So thanks for the kind thoughts everyone :ty:. Nothing else damaged other than a scrape and my pride! half a second's inattention is all it takes.:ROFLMAO::LOL:

Much as I admire @Asha's approach, I'm getting some photo opps with the little digeri and our grandson as subject. I have enough trouble with WLFs when I have all my faculties operational, so I'll just grimace and bear it for now... :crying:
