Another silly lens question...

It's exactly the same lens a quick example:

Full Frame body - only EF lenses
Crop body - EF-S and EF lenses

You have a crop body this lens is EF-S so the result is you can use the lens with your body :)

Ah know I see thank you so much :-)

Hi Ben, a crop is referring to the size of your sensor in your camera. The EF-S lenses (the 18-55 you were looking at) were designed to go on the crop sensor cameras which range from the 300D, 350D, 400D right up to the newest today which is the 7D. The only cameras with a different sized sensor are the 1D series and the 5D series, which are full frame sensors. The full frame sensors are the same size as a 35mm film negative and are 1.6 times larger than the crop sensor.
Just be aware that the lens you are looking at in ebay is the model without the Image Stabilizer built into it. Which means it's harder to get a good photo without using a tripod or something similar. Without knowing your level of knowledge I may be spouting something you already know, but if you don't know yet it might just be of help.

No this is really helpful I'm a complete amateur and looking to find as much info out as possible! Thanks for the help!

as already said this lens will fit a 300d in fact this same lens was sold with the 300d when new as part of a single or twin lens kit.
the efs has a white dot while the ef lens has a red dot the 300d will also take any ef lens. the mounts are the same but the efs has the extra protruding ring (about 3 to 4mm) on the back as can be seen on the image in the link. i've known canon users to cut and remove this ring for use on ef only bodys but i'm not sure just how easy it is to do but in your case you wont have to worry it will fit the cameras your looking at.
