Came across this site on another (non photographic) forum I frequent and cant find any reference to it on here.

Anyone remember Dontons/Yorkshire Cameras?

Looks like they're at it again with www.frog-photos.com

Its the same layout as the Dontons web page and even says "Copyright © 2011 DONTONS, All rights reserved" at the bottom of the web page.

One to avoid me thinks! :thumbsdown:

Certainly looks a bit dodgy to me. The prices they are charging are less than Canon can supply them. The testimonials are the same names and items as Dontons used before, which were almost the same as Yorkshire cameras. I wouldn't trust these people with my kids pocket money let alone a few thousand pounds.
I will be the first to apologise though, if they do turn out to be genuine and can prove it, and also the first to place an order if they do. A guy I know got caught by Yorkshire cameras and is still waiting to get his money back, although the police are doing a great job in tracking these people down.

Another similar one that appeared on my radar this week - Middleton Banks (based in Wakefield at a mailbox centre...), I won't directly link, you can find them easily enough.
 
There are loads of them about, this fake site thing seems like a good money spinner.

No it's essential £££, not that i am picking hairs because what ever it is, it isn't "frog-photos"

Having said that nobody can go by what google maps are saying because the image is from 2009-10 so anything could have changed.
 
I think we can safely say neither of those locations look like a good place to get a decent deal on a nice new camera.
 
A 430EXII Speedlight for £110.00..........I think not. Surely when you look at the prices warning bells should ring!
 
Middleton banks do seem to have a good rep on amazon. Im umming and ahhing about handing over dosh for a lens from them....
Its even cheaper on their own site, but the alarm bells are ringing. Anyone know any more?

Website shows their address as Wakefield, Yorkshire, but the telephone number is Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire.

Same telephone number shows up for other businesses (possibly shared offices?), but also a newsagent :thinking:.

Just found this site after searching for 7Ds... appears to be the same as Alexander Trent.... think I'll keep clear. Sigh, thought 900 smackers for a 7D was too god to be true.
