Not entirely a rookie, but an ex Ferrania CR50 member who is looking to start again with a digital SLR having had years in the wilderness with point and shoot compacts.

Christmas is coming and my darling wife is thinking about buying me a Canon 550D - I think she just wants me out of the house!

Thanks for the welcome.

I think I'm on safe ground - socks will come from my son, I'm sure.

My only concern is that I will use any DSLR enough to warrant its purchase. I was keen enough years ago, processing my own slides, printing B&W and so on, so I believe I shall rise to the challenge.

That's why I joined, to get lots of help/ideas and so on.
