Quick question for all your plumbers out there....

If I provide the hardware how much should I be looking to pay to have a set of bath taps replaced with this:

Zilch Keith.
If I can do it, trust me, anyone can.
I did it myself becuase I got tired of waiting for "someone" else to do it

LOL thanks Ruth

Hopefully getting the keys to my new house today providing all goes to plan and with all the costs involved in that any money I can save would be good

I reckon you'll be fine.
Good luck in the new place!

Of course there is the possibility that the pressure of the water wont be enough to power the shower very well once you raise the shower head to a decent height. i.e. head height.

And assuming your current tap setup isnt a monobloc, i.e. only one hole in the side of the bath for the water to come in through. The taps you show will require two feeds, hot and cold via separate holes. (I think)

That requires a bath with two tap holes.
Won't be a difficult job, but it can be fiddly getting access to the underside of the taps.
You can get a special tap wrench which would help.

Probably between £50 and £100 to do the job. Plumbers have the necessary tools to do the job. It's a relatively easy job but the access is very restricted. Tentacles would be useful :)
The shower attachment could be problematic. If the tiles are ceramic- no problem. If they are porcelain you need specialist drills.
You can buy them for about £10 or so. I normally spend about £30 on my ones.
The existing bath taps are most likely two hole. One tap hole bath taps are not very common as you need a decent flow of water to fill a bath.

2 week delay before I can get into my new house (n)

Have decided I am going to have an electric shower fitted now

Well b****r on the delay!

Just remember you'll need a power supply run in from its own fuse/circuit breaker in your board. Get a hgh KW shower for a good flow rate, or your wife will struggle rinsing her hair if she has thick curly hair.......

Myself personally, I prefer the mixer tap for showers provided you have a combi boiler, as then you have basically mains water pressure. I took the electric shower out of my bathroom when we moved house as I prefered the power shower feel of the mixer tap shower. The newer electric showers maybe be better now or you can even add a pump to increase pressure.

Something to bare in mind.

even a 10.5kw electric shower would struggle to beat a mixer shower, unless the mixer was working with relatively low pressure.

Have an electric shower already in my current place and it copes very well with what I ask of it.

That's great, but I'd bet a mixer shower would be even better.
I had an electric shower for years, and was happy with it.
Now I have a decent mixer shower, and wouldn't want to go back to an electric one.

Have a number of jobs that will need doing before I actually move in and it is proving rather expensive, the delay in getting the keys isn't helping either
