Shame, but I think he wanted his minute in the limelight as 'The victim'
I don't think so...especially when he went to such lengths as reported in the article. Inviting the police to examine your computer is not a "limelight" seeker does imho.
"It has left him so shook up and desperate to clear his name he later called police and asked them to come over to review everything on his computer."
Where I live, in Virginia,USA, something similar happened to me. It was evening on Sunday after most of the shops closed on a little street. It was pleasant weather and I was strolling down the street relaxing smoking a cigar. I went up to the shop windows here and there just to look at the display items they were selling. All of a sudden two police cars rush down the street stop near me and police from both cars approach me from opposite sides (in case I ran I guess). There had been a report that a "suspicious" person was potentially casing stores to rob them. My record is squeaky clean having been in the military and holding several security clearances, so I laughed when they told me that and handed them my ID and told them while you look me up I will be looking in the window of that art store at the paintings. They did their background check, then apologized to me for disturbing my walk.
