I have a buyer who claims to have paid me via "paypal gift". The money is in my account and I was able to transfer the money into my bank account (in the process).
However the paypal account is not verified, and the name on the account is different to the buyer's name. Another thing I noticed is he has paid me in two different ocassions, first one yesterday which was 242.64 and the other payment today which is 2.36 totalling £245 which is the correct amount.

I'm not saying I am being scammed but if you pay by PPG, paypal does not charge both parties (but I could be wrong) and I asked him why he did not pay the exact amount first time, he claimed paypal charged him about 3% for making the payment.

I'm really confused now.

What can you say about this? Shall I send the lens?

Can paypal gift be funded by credit card? If so am I right in saying that I run the risk of getting a charge back in case the buyer receives the lens and the owner of the paypal account claims that the payment is unauthorised?

Thank you

if you pay paypal gift by credit card it gives you the option to pay the charge yourself ie it adds the charge on top of what your sending, or you can select to have the recipient pay it out of what you send.

Credit card and certain debit cards (visa, maybe others), have the capability of doing a charge back for upto 120 days, its not just a case of taking the money it has to go through an evidence procedure etc, to decide if its a lawful charge back.

thanks to both of you, I thijnk I'm just overcautious...
