Nice to see a few West Country people!

After several years of having Lumix Mega Zooms, I have decided to embrace all that is DSLR. Takes me back 30 years to my old OM 10 days!

I am about to buy my first DSLR, which was a Nikon D3100 or Canon 500D. But I keep being drawn to the 550D, I know it is a lot more money, but my partner is contributing towards it a s a Christmas present. I know I should buy a cheaper camera, but I want this one as a keeper, even if it means just using the stock lens for 12 months.

Great forum and I am sure I will learn a lot from it.
 
Welcome to the forum ... whatever camera you choose there are some lovely photo opportunities down in 'Demn'.

I'm north cornwall but pretty close to devon :p

if you'd like a more in depth play I have a fair bit of canon kit (no 550ds though)

Bude! Lovely place. I am in Bideford, so only 35 minutes along the "Atlanitic Highway"
I have managed to buy a 550 today, but will have to wait for Santa to deliver it!

Woke up to around 3 inches of snow this morning.
Unusual for Bideford to have so much seeing we are so close to the sea.

Make it 5 or 6 inches of snow! Snowman being made as I type!
I still got my Lumix FZ 18 to record it with.
