Stuck for words here.

There's just an ever so good possibility that Mrs Pints will eventually argee to let me spend my own bonus on me this time. So I'm eyeing up that first DSLR (to replace the bridge) and was directed here by the kind chaps at PistonHeads.

I don't expect to be a prolific posted, but TP is now on my favourites list and hopefully I'll be able to update my profile with a Canon 650d quite soon.

Sod's law states they'll release the 700d a week after I've ordered my 650d. :D

If you are stuck for words, you will be unique on this forum!:D

Go for that 650D if that's your fncy. It is a fine camera and will be an excellent introduction to the world of DSLR.

Just ensure your other half understands how it works ... the optimium number of cameras you need follows the formula N=N+1 (where N=the number of cameras you already own.)

The same formula of course relates to lenses, flash guns etc.:)

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks.

I intend to keep the bridge, as well as the other points and shoots I have around the house. Just want the 650d to be my camera, rather than the one which is grabbed to take any family shots.

Never buy the latest version when it comes out, usually they are £200-£300 more for a small list of improvements that new togs won't he then benefit from anyhow.

Save your money for lenses and accessories

A bit late but I've just realised I didn't update this thread with my eventual camera of choice. I bought a 60D from our friends at DR, as well as the usual starter lens suspects of the 18-55mm, 55-250mm and nifty-fifty.

This was back around April time last year (if my dodgy memory serves), so this post is long overdue.

I've taken several thousand shots with it, but I'm still pretty crap. :)
Looking forward to the summer months when I tend to have more spare awake time, so the camera comes out more often.

I'd like to say welcome, although it seems long overdue as well :D

Look on each picture as a learning curve, you're now a few thousand pictures less 'crap' than when you started :D

Just realistic. :)

Did you ever find out what she was up to ? :)
Ha! The HalfPints have lovely new bikes and she has a treadmill and cross-trainer taking up space in my house - I strongly suspect a good wedge of my bonuses are "invested" in these. :)

Taken from another site:

The graph originated here: http://boards.4chan.org/p/. A photography chan image board well known for its harsh, honest and often unnecessary criticism. Most first time posters leave with tattered pride and never return. Hence the /p/ notation on the graph.

Wow, that is a dark place!

I think I'll leave them to their fun...
