Hello, everyone.
Being very much an amateur photographer, i.e the owner of a Samsung digital camera, the buttons and dials of which are a continual source of bafflement, I've joined your obviously friendly community in the hope of adding to my knowledge and expertise.
I am a retired pensioner, widowed, living in Cornwall. U.K.
May I begin with a question?
Is it possible to get photos from negatives transferred to jpgs so that I can use them to illustrate some of my writing. I doubt if I have the equipment or the skills to do it myself, so what do you recommend, if it's possible?

sorry fernbird but i can not answer your question, but welcome to the friendliest forum ever.

Maybe you could try scanning your negative with a scanner at very high resolution and then using a photo editor to turn the negative, negative and make it the correct colours?

Just a though.

Welcome :D

Hi Fernbird and welcome to TP!

There are specialised negative scanners [very pricey!] to do that kinda job. Some photographic processing outlets can do the job too - again can be quite pricey. An alternative I would suggest is a flatbed scanner [Epson do them - I own one!] reasonably priced £60.00 upwards which have a negative and slide adapter which scans both those into jpegs as well as ordinary photographs and documents etc.

Hope that helps!

Helen
