I am confused by it but also very, very moved by it. I dont know weather that is the end of TG or the end of Clarkson or what but my god. What a superb film. It was one of them things that made me sit back and just think about the fact that I may never get to enjoy a fast car when I can afford to insure one. Soon driving wont be fun, it will be a chore due to the war on speed and the fact that cars have to be green and nice and the fact there are so many other cars on the road.

A truly magnificant film.

HMM!! the Aston was very nice, not so sure I enjoyed old Jezza creaming his pants :gag:

Oh and follow this Clicky click

There are plenty of cars out there Matt which can offer what you need without being too expensive to own.
I was very very close to buying a Focus ST3 but went for the new shape Honda Civic Sport 2.2 i-CDTI. Low insurance, low tax, 60mpg @60mph and loads of torque so its pretty quick and lots of fun to drive and its a great looking car.

Odd thing is that while they said it was the last program of the series, Sky+ has another Top Gear scheduled for next week.

TBH I thought this and last week's shows have been disappointing, mainly with the main feature. I think they have really run out of ideas now.

i thought that particular episode was messy and boring.
the aston martin bit at the end struck me as self indulgent nonsense, it was screaming out 'help we've run out of ideas'

I hope thats the end of Top Gear. I enjoy it but I only really enjoy the 'adventures'. The cool wall, the 'got a book out and want to talk about it and drive around the track' and the rest of it is boring IMHO.
Whilst the 'adventures/challenges' they go on are obviously scripted they are very entertaining, and I think they should stick to doing things like the Vietnam Special.

last night's was a bit 'tired' I have to admit, though I did laugh a lot at the Ad-Agency mens' faces when they were looking at the VW ads those two loons had dreamt up...

Liked the end-piece as well - Matt - buy a lovely car and drive it in Germany - it's what I did. Over here I just drive my old V6 Cougar as it's more than fast enough for UK 'roads'...

i too think Top Gear has run its course , time for something new

its been far too scripted of late for me

I took it as they meant "its a really good car, but what a shame most will never get used properly" sort of thing . . . . .

It didn't move me at all, and I didn't read into it too much.

I like top gear and seem to be the only one who doesnt think they've run out of ideas, its just changed or evolved over the years I think. Definately not lost its touch though.

I sincerely hope it's not the end of Top Gear. You have to admire the cinematography, there really is very little like on telly these days. When you compare it to likes of Fifth Gear, ok maybe they're a bit more informative, but there's nothing in it apart from ad breaks. Top Gear for me is the only car show I'll watch on telly, not just for the cars but for the entertainment. Long live Top Gear I say

They'll never stop making cars like that Aston Martin because rich people like them and rich people keep the worlds economy revolving.
I've enjoyed this series but I do think last nights episode had run out of ideas., it seemed like a oh **** there's another episode, what have we got in the reject can we can cobble together

The format of the show is getting a little tired now though

I was wondering if I was the only one who felt they went out with a whimper rather than a bang, but obviously not. A shame really, as it's been the BBC's most popular show and one of the few that hasn't been totally dumbed down...

I read that bit of film as they were describing the car as Heaven, with the scenery, clouds and the angelic music, just my thought.

:plusone:

I don't really watch top gear, but I know for certain that fast cars will be around as long as the ozone layer.

I see Jezza and the BBC are receiving complaints again about Jezza's spoof VW Scirroco ad with the punchline, Berlin to Warsaw in one Tank.

It will probably be a highlights from this series show, they normally do one.

I was watching the end Aston section just wishing it was in HD, that would have been awesome. It was good anyway.

I've lost faith in Top Gear now, I've never much liked Richard Hammond and his plastered on fake grin. James May's solo shows are better than TG now for me which has just basically dumbed it down for easy ratings.

Germans can take a joke - I know cause I live there...told my GF this (she's a TG fan too) and she passed it on to all her mates...

Jezza's clip...Berlin to Warsaw in one tank.....I nearly peed myself at that, it was absolute genius :D

I love top gear, but the car review stuff spoils it for me :P
For me the show is about the fun, the challenges, the back and forth, the mickey taking and the tomfoolery....with cars.

Working for an design / marketting agency that segment really did amuse me because its all so true.

I think during the next break between seasons they'll need to sit down and come up with something new. The Vietnam Special was probably one of the best TG episodes I've ever seen, also the one with the new Nissan Skyline in Japan I thought was great. I missed last weeks, will need to watch it on iPlayer.

i did not like that last bit at all

they put a new car on the show and told us sod all about it!

the rest of the show was good, but that bit was just pointless IMO

The BBC have held back one of the Top Gear "races" for the next series. It features some of the BTCC race drivers as usual and they are racing airport vehicles similar to the Cadbury's advert.

Calrkson is prone to fawning over an Aston Martin though, and it was the series finale segment. I did like the music though, don't know the name of it.

yeah the music is Brian Eno - an ending (youtube it) it's from an 1980's album of soundtracks he did.

I though it was the end of topgear after watching that piece (which might have been self indulgent but you have to appreciate it was beautifully shot) but on topgear.com they had to put out a blog-type post saying something along the lines of 'every now and then you put something out on telly, which is received in a way that was completely unintentional' and that it was supposed to be about the end of super cars not the end of TG.

There will be a series 14 they start filming soon i think.

The article on top gear.com about how the episode has caused some people to think it's ending, but it's not. > clicky click

and another piece by Jezza about how he's staying > Clicky click

Thanks for telling me the music used, I've favourited that YouTube link. Brilliant piece of music.
