Hello All,

I've had a look at a few M42 to E mount adapters ,some seem to be a couple of MM thick and others a CM or so, surely they have to put the lens a fixed distance from the sensor so which type should I go for ? I must admit that i have been looking on Amazon and eBay !

Thanks all

I think the thick ones are the ones to go for. AFAIK the thin ones are not to retain the registration distance but rather to allow adapted lenses to be used.

In fact I've just checked some descriptions on evil bay and this seems to be the case and the descriptions also state that the thin ones can be used with helicoid adapters too.

So I think you need one of the thick ones unless you're using adapted lenses.

Thanks everyone, it's going to take me a fair while to get used to the new Sony A6000 and all it's functions but on the couple of hundred or so photos I have taken so far I have run out of focal length quite a few times so when I have mastered using the camera ( in my small way of course) I'll start using some of my manual lenses. About a hundred or so of the shots I have taken so far have been of my eight grand kids a project I was going to do on film ( I was ordered to do this by Mrs Badger) and one of the short falls of the kit lens is that it will only go down to F 3.5 so is a little limited and I had to be careful of the back ground . I did find something when I got lost in the menus about background blur so I'm not sure if you can do this in software maybee.. Fast emount lenses seem a little too expensive at this point !
