I am in the process of building my Photography Site to store all my work on but i am a little confused about the Law side of things.

All of the photo's going on the site are taken by me.

What i am confused about is if for instance i take a picture of the badge of a car showing the make do i then need to get permission from that manufacturer to use on my own website even though the images aren't for sale?

I just don't want to go taking loads of photo's and then getting shafted by someone who doesn't like an image on there.

Also where can i get model release forms so i can use these at shoots, and how do i link those forms to the pictures?

Thanks in advance .

Joe, is that true in the UK? In the US, you DO have to get a model release for displaying them on your website, provided we're talking about an actual shoot rather than street photography. Putting shots on your website is considered commercial use, as you are using the shots to promote your photography.

Dal, no, you don't have to worry about manufacturers and brand names for your purposes.

lovely cheers for the help guys.

how can i find out if i am safe to put pics up with out a model release form??

cheers.
