Thoughts? After telling SWMBO my idea for when we sort the conservatory, I had another idea for the living room.... The walls will be a different colour to the photo, and so would the "map".

Basically, this will be the route of our drive when we get married. We'll hang relevant pictures on the wall at each point of the pair of us.

Tell me about it! (OCD too). As part of the house makeover, we're also have new radiators throughout

Just buy a map and frame it :)

I can't stand this kind of thing :D , but I'm an old grump...

I think this falls in to the same basket as calligraphic love poems, child growth records in crayon and New York holiday skyline backdrops

No....just no

But, its your wall, you can do what you want..:)

actually, we have something ever so slightly naff on a wall, 4 framed album covers from "our era" in the downstairs bog
I said no, I was overruled but its in the downstairs bog, as long as it doesn't creep in to everyday living, outta sight outta mind
I've enough on with self multiplying pot dogs and bowls of pebbles everywhere without patrolling the flippin walls...:)

I think it would need some sort of mural, not just a squiggly line on the wall with piccies hanging from it.

I did suggest something more eloborate, but would need a professional artist in and air spray.... Basically, feather from the colour of the wall (which will be changing) into an actual map of the surrounding area (including other major roads), but with the emphasis on the route we're taking. Basically, imagine Google Maps on the wall, but with the edges feathered out.

ooooooo..... Another idea, rather than locations names, have something the represents each location - ie, Vegas sign for vegas, erm, I'm out of ideas now... Steak for Texas? Or a big star (lone star state)

We'll see..... If it looks s*** I can just cover it up with more paint :D

No chance of changing doors. Left door is porch/stairs. There's a radiator to the Left in there, and stair case to the right. Right door opens into the kitchen, which is small enough as it is.
/
Funnily enough, I did mention to SWMBO when I got home from work about centering it - turns out she thought the same earlier today after seeing the picture again. But as you say, the door needs to clear, so maybe a smaller radiator? Dunno.

Shame it's squint...

I think you need to do something about that ceiling. :exit:

I think the door frames could do with a bit of attention, and that along with a smaller rad {centrally placed) would be a start. I would probably drop the map to just above the rad, and then airbrush in a bit of artwork - a '65 Mustang or a chopped Harley maybe - above.:naughty:

So do it. There really is no point whatsoever in doing something like this if you bodge it on the cheap.

Getting re-boarded when we get the walls re-skimmed in a few weeks

As above, all skirting boards, arcitrave, and door frames are being replaced too.
