Another French Hostage Outrage

A monumental cock up by the French authorities it seems. One of the terrorists had twice attempted to access Syria, was tagged and under police surveillance and yet he managed 'slip' through and another innocent person pays the ultimate price. Indeed it is raises the question as to why this nob job wasn't behind bars?

Easy to say with hindsight but maybe they didn't have enough evidence to lock him up. Should we be locking people up if we think they could be a threat?

But he DID serve time.
He was released under their tagging system.

He had been, but was released on license under "virtual house arrest" with the tag. The tag was disabled for the same period of time each day to allow him out; a practice I suspect they'll be reviewing.

Yes indeed, but clearly for someone who had shown intent to join ISIS, you would have thought the authorities would have taken his risk of 'offending' a bit more seriously perhaps.

Exactly why I suspect they'll be reviewing their policies.

But the evidence suggests he was a) radicalised and b) intent on joining ISIS. Based on this evidence alone I think it's not that difficult to determine that this individual posed a potential risk to the public.

As for locking people up yes we should be certainly on those who attempt to make it to Syria to join ISIS - mandatory 10 years min. would be a good start,

I see the muslim council of Great Britain have their priorities in order, whinging about an episode of Fireman Sam now.

I heard that too
"Apparently" (I've not read the link) it was supposed to be a random page with random letters / words on it.
And the company concerned have been fired!

Also in the same item, the French are not treating this atrocity as an attack on religion, but an attack on leisure time / the freedom to gather.
If you kill a "man of the cloth" in his Church, I can't see that it being anything else but a direct attack on a Western religion.
