Another caught out by facebook...

Why would you let someone become your friend if you did not know them.

because like all of these social networks, people see popularity as a figure, the more people you have on your facebook the more popular you are. whcih clearly isnt the case.


i refuse to have anyone on my facebook who i dont actually know!
 
me too.

i only have people i know on mine i think its really strange to have people you dont know.

and out of the 50 odd people i have i only really communicate with 10.
 
Facebook is rapidly becoming more trouble than it's worth...
 
the one thing that annoys me more about facebook than those people who go around adding people they dont know (just because you know some of my friends or went to the same uni as me (5 years after i left..) doesnt mean that i know you) are those stupid 'fan' applications

blah is a fan of great sex, become a fan.....
blah is a fan of not being a fan of getting up in the morning, become a fan...


is there anything more pointless? (apart from those 'top5 applications which im currently addicted to)
 
This is why every person I work with is on my block list :D
 
Quite - I find it useful to keep in touch, but if people don't actually talk to me on there, I delete them after 6 months or so...

Just had another round of Spring-Cleaning in fact...I announce that if I don't hear back within 7 days they're deleted. Just proves who your real friends are...
 
I dont often use facebook, just to kep in contact with my brother if he isnt on MSN. I dont use social netowrk sites too much these days, they bore me!

Whats wrong with phoning people ?

Or even more outrageous, go and visit them, at their house !

I would agree, but when going to their house involves a long haul flight - it can prove tricky! :D It is about the only reason why I still use it!

I point blank refuse to get involved with all the cr*p that is on there, I am not in any groups or networks and the only applications I have are the ones that you can't delete (I tried!)

I can see the use of it. It's not a replacement for a phone at the end of the day. It's about sharing photos, news etc. or making announcements of events or whatever with friends. You can't necessarily see a friend in Australia that often and you can't often phone that same friend.

That said, while I have a facebook account, I literally use it once a week purely out of interest and have considered developing a facebook application - again, out of interest on how the system works, and is something I can offer to my clients as a web developer. I have about five friends on facebook all of whom I see or speak to on the phone regularly and so I simply don't need it but when I'm away in New Zealand later this year, I might well start to use it more often.
 
I don't like facebook, it causes so many problems in relationships etc. People just use it to count their popularity, which is kinda sad.

Why people actually use really money and buy gifts is beyond me! You have to have a screw loose to give money to it. Crazy.

Believe me I'd be looking to search and use anything I could against an employee if there was a concern around gross misconduct.

A little expensive when you live on the other side of the world to all your family and friends. It's useful for sharing pics and keeping people updated, rather than sending lots of emails to everyone.
 
If the telephone, post, email, skype, msn etc don't work for you then farcebook isn't going to help either. What's the point?
 
When I first signed up I thought it was great, being able to find old friends.
But really. I don't communicate with any of them. Sometimes use it to arrange a pub meet.

But now...I sign in and there's a page full of status updates all from 1 person!
Some people feel the need to tell everyone what they are doing every 10 minutes!

Joe Bloggs is hungry
Joe Bloggs is going to make lunch
Joe Bloggs has just had lunch...Mmmm
Joe Bloggs has just sat down and is now watching Jeremy Kyle
Joe Bloggs is tired
Joe Bloggs says, wow, what an exhausting day

People that i went to school with, or good mates i somehow lost touch with i'm not back in touch with and seeing again.
I met my misses on Myspace.

I really am a child of the modern world :lol:
