I'm having trouble tracking down what's going wrong with a significant selection of photos taken with my Lee Big Stopper.
Many instances on different days and different lighting exhibit a common flaw. This takes the form of a central pink streak with some additional parallel banding. the streak is aligned with the long side. I've eliminated lenses as it appears with more than one. I'm using a D700 with Lee Big Stopper. I've tried to ensure that the edges of the filter are shaded from any stray sunlight. The link below points to an example image and my initial investigations. Does this look like filter flaw? Camera/sensor issue? Operator error?
I'd be really interested to hear any thoughts anyone can offer.

I had thought that once the mirror was up the path from viewfinder was closed?, so no, never bothered......
I'll see if I can replicate the issue and try with finder closed.

I think you can still get light leaks, particularly if the sun is behind you and you're not blocking it's path to the viewfinder. I always use the built in viewfinder cover these days and have not a problem since.

Just had amazing fast response from Lee tech support. They confirm it as light leak through viewfinder and past mirror. It seems that on D700 at least, the seal provided by the raised mirror is theoretical rather than functional. Thanks for help everyone, that looks like problem sorted pending practical trials.

It's supposed to be, but the seal is not perfect, especially around the piggy-back AF mirror in the middle.

Try a 20 secs exposure with the lens cap on, sun shining into the viewfinder.

D700 has an eyepiece blind doesn't it?

Edit: sorry, crossed post. Yes Lee customer service is good
