Yes
Just went to file my confirmation statement for my limited company online
and increased from £13 last year to £34 for a couple of keystrokes
accoding to goggle there are over 5 million ltd companies in the uk so thats a decent wedge of cash

I managed to do both of mine before it went up earlier this year. It was a Conservative parting shot I think.,

hopefully the last one for my my ltd co ceases end of the month

There are all sorts of stealth taxes here in France. You are not allowed to wash vehicles at home at the risk of a €400 fine. That costs me €8 per week to have the car washed to a much lower standard than if I do it myself at home. I have to pay over €200 a year as my address is registered to my business. Even though all my work is done at my customer's location. My bank charges me €50 per year as I have to register a bank account that is unique to my business even though I am basically a one man band and the only outgoings are fuel for the car, vehicle insurance and the income tax payable on earnings.

Every where I look, prices are going up. Surely the official inflation figure is wrong.

Depends on the product only things in the inflating calculation are only taken in to consideration if you look it up it's like about 200 things and stuff gets added and removed each year

Yes. But I would not need a business account if they hadn't changed the regulations. Now any small trader, even if they are only doing car boot sales or selling cushions that they have made need to have a dedicated bank account purely for the business.

France is not generally considered a business-friendly environment, so I sympathise with Clive. As I understand it, you pay tax and social contributions on business turnover, not just profits, as a micro-entrepreneur?

Business accounts in the UK - I have mine and the TP account with Starling, which does not charge for an account. I think they are great. I also have a Euro account alongside my GBP personal account, also at no charge.

France does have a much better NHS that the UK does so maybe more taxes is working for them :)

@Mr Bump That's why I was planning for years to retire to France; however Brexit put some obstacles in the way which, whilst I could overcome them, my wife would have struggled (language test for long term visa,), and the uncertainty of obtaining permanent residence.

Not in the supermarkets, I've noticed the prices have stabilised. Where I had noticed prices rising dramatically is in shops like Home Bargains, things that were 99p or £1 are suddenly £1.25-£1.49. Fuel has also started to come down significantly over the past few weeks, just in time for RR to increase the fuel duty again. Reckon inflation will shoot up again after the budget.

Visa hassles are a b****r since Roy from Preston but do you have an EU passport at all?
I thought you had Irish in you?

No, I'm pure (?) English/Welsh hybrid, living now in Northern Ireland. No EU passport, although that may come if reunification (of this island) occurs in my lifetime.

Yes, I did tons of research on it and had it all worked out, but then decided the uncertainty was not something I could live with.
