weekly Anita's 52 week thread 2013

Hi, Anita, thoughts we'd lost you for a moment :D

Pattern, well spotted and well composed. I suspect it isn't but it look a tad yellow.

Movement, yup on theme but I find the surrounding a tad distracting, especially the BG.

Below, interesting perspective but a little underexposed.

Size, these always make me smile. I guess they could be camouflaged, but I'd rather see more of them.

Greed, gimme, gimme, gimme....:D nice detail and the light looks nice. Bit dark?

Kind, shoehorn is forgiven because they really are cracking vehicles. Well composed and pity you didn't have a nice castle in the BG.

Cheers.

Hi Anita :)

Pattern - Nice symmetrical shot but the bottom shelf could do with a straighten for me :)

Movement - I think the shot needs something else... maybe the silver glinting a bit, but nice movement caught there

Below - An interesting shape and some nice colour coming from a low sun

Size - Ahaaaaa a Jungle :D

Nice DoF.. But i would have prefered the Rhino up close (slightly out of focus) and the lions further back and being the focal point

Greed - Nice selection of yummy BBQ meat there, makes me feel hungry !!!

Kind - Ahhh Daisy, A lovely looking camper in a nice setting

What a great catch up

Hi Anita, There's nothing I can add that hasn't been said already but I would like to say welcome back and well done for catching up.

Hi Anita

It was the Movement shot that brought me to your thread. I see what you were trying to do and I think you choose the right shutterspeed, but I think you or the camera has focused on the wrong bit as my eye is drawn to the background and sees the windmill as a blurry distraction. Perhaps a larger aperture (smaller number) with a filter (to keep the shutterspeed the same) would have worked better.

Lovely shot of Daisy :)

Hi Anita

Good use of DOF to isolate the BG , good colors , well lit ,nicely placed in the frame & really sharp....pops off the screen  I'd like to see the whole hand rather than just 2 fingers

Hi Anita

love that the rocks look like they're floating....were they on a clear surface suspended above the darker surface to get that effect ? Great lighting , good detail , nicely positioned & sharp....nice work missus

Hi. Thank you. They were done the same way as the sixpence. A sheet of glass (IKEA shelf) propped up at the sides with a piece of coloured card on the table underneath. Diffused natural light and a reflector to lighten up darker points.

Hi Anita, Great colours & textures on processed.

Lovely stones too, you have really nailed these!

Thanks for the method write up too, I might have to try something like that myself.

Nice sharp pic of the rocks and nicely lit not sure of the composition though

liking the variety of the stones used for rock, some smooth, some sharp, some plain, some patterned, not 100% sure the floaty effect works, but its not far off, so for something a bit different I say yep!

pair - the holding hands is great on it's own, but shown next to the eye shot looks a bit average. Eye's are top notch., sharp, focussed perfectly on the viewer and well composed, love the detail in the reflections which you can see by looking deeper into the eyes.

Great job Anita.

Hi Anita :)

A nice couple of images you have there, liking both of them, the eyes shot could do with a bit more light to the right side, but you have nailed the focus and there is great detail, I'm liking the held hands shot, real nice DoF and background, but not as much as the eyes

I completely agree with Grahams comment about how good the holding hands shot was until I saw those eyes!

Whoa! - those eyes. excellent.

Have to go with the hands the eyes have a few issues as has been pointed out, the hands work really well as an image did you try B+W:thinking:

Hands for me. Just feels warm. Slight increase in brightness for me, and perhaps a tad off the bottom.

B&W may be interesting as, I feel, would be a slight vignette.

Cheers.

Hi Anita

Rock - very clear and like the lighting. Spot on theme.

Pair - #1 hands is very good. Like the comp, the focus and the lovely oof b/g. good skin tones
#2 - eyes - really like them. Dood comp, crop and detail. I like the fact that there is light from the lhs as this gives depth to the face.

Hi Anita,
Long time no comment sorry :(

Pair, the eyes get my vote
A simple yet very effective image, technically very good, spot on focus and well lit. I particularly like the catchlight, lovely.

Shape, a strong image, simple in its composition but again very effective, lovely bold colour tones, very pleasing on the eye.

Plenty, again bang on theme
Are you a lady wot lunches?

Speed, bang on theme but feel the background is a little too busy but not much you could have done about it I expect.

Hi Anita :)

Shape - Lovely detail and colours, fills the frame nicely and is indeed a interesting shape :)

Plenty - A bit of a snapshot for me and and the wonk... but Oooo yes please

Speed - Again a snap for me, a busy background and nothing but the sign, maybe if further back with a car in the frame, narrow DoF with off Brake Lights on and Sign Pin sharp :)

A good catch up again though

No problem..i'm not exactly brilliant at commenting.

Thank you. I have to say that I have a lovely model....my daughter...but then I could be biased :-)

A special treat for my daughter's birthday

Speed, bang on theme but feel the background is a little too busy but not much you could have done about it I expect.

Thanks, you're right didn't get much time to think about background as was in moving car....I wasn't driving I hasten to add :-)

Hi Anita

Shape - that is very strong as Iain says. I just think that a little more attention to detail in terms of straightness and symmetry would make it a top shot.

Plenty - it does fit the theme and the comp of the central food, offset figure and glass works for me . Just the figure in the b/g and that messy plant detract somewhat. You could have removed the plant but not sure about the reaction from your neighbour being asked to move :D

Speed - it is on theme and a workable idea but as others have said, it is a bit busy and lacks an immediate focal point.

Hi Anita

Shape I really like  although the table is a bit on the slant, I think just a shot of the strawberry on its own would be interesting enough

Plenty of cake whats not to like, agree with the other comments

Speed have to agree with other comments again

good catch up

Shape, cracker. Great colours and it's almost popping out of the screeen. I wasn't sure about the plate, but think I prefer it as it contrast well against the red.

Plenty, oh, yeah. On theme and yummy. Cracking smile as well.

Speed, yeah, as Iain says...

Cheers.

Shape: Love this!

Plenty: Looks yummy!

Speed: Fits the theme well, i do drive past shootings too

Hello Anita.

Everyone else got there first so I'm just dropping by to say well done for catching up. ;)

PS can I have the phone number of the lady with the cakes? (I like cakes me!)

Shape....oooohhh , looks good enough to eat  I like almost everything about this shot ,the color of the strawb, the contrast with the white plate & the wooden table  2 minor niggles....possibly a touch close to the bottom of the frame & the stalk seems a bit too yellowy but that could be my screen as no-one else has mentioned it ?

Plenty.....those cakes look divine...I've put on 1/2 a stone just looking at them

Speed.....all's been said aleady....my bad or taking so bloomin long to comment :-(
