A lovely natural history shot for rustic Anita

It really tells a story in one frame, perfect :D

Hi Antia

that's a cracking shot of a Robin ....just a little dark maybe ? lovely & sharp on the eye... maybe lose the blue bit somehow...

Hi Anita

Value - excellent detail and well lit. B/g is really attractive and complements the coin well. Looked at it on my notebook and it looks equally good turned 90 degrees anti clockwise

Angles - peaceful scene, good balance and reflections in water. Some good colours there but need a bit brighter IMO. On theme

Rustic - good shot of a robin doing something which ties it to the theme nicely - not just a bird on a stick:D. Interesting b/g but as with Angles, a touch dark

excellent robin shot I have to say I dont think its too dark its obviously in the shade looks very natural to me, a slight crop maybe but very good

Can i show my ignorance and ask what is HSL?

Presume Brian meant Hue Saturation Lightness (or Luminance), basically a clever-clog way of saying the colours! ;)

and a completely unique take on angle, took me a while to suss it out, great reflections in the water.

I rather like the little Robin, flickrs dead so can;t see him close up, but looks ok small. Good composition, and there is plenty of space on the right of the histogram to lighten him up a bit, but he is in the shade, so

Thanks for that. I'm a bit lost on Photoshop. I learn a little bit but by the time I go back I've forgotten it again ( guess that could just be my age :-) ). When I do try something I'm very conscious of 'over-cooking' the photo if you know what I mean. So maybe I should be a bit more adventurous with the settings. Still not got the hang of histograms either. Such a lot to learn!! :-)

Beautiful shot, could do with being a bit lighter but well captured anyway!

Hi Anita

Vertical - spot on theme. Overall looks a little dark and I think that it is slighty leaning to the left. I like the composition and the lonely isolation of the place where everything else is soft or sloping. With abit of pp work i reckon that to be really good.

Hi thanks for comments. I'm struggling with the processing part. What looks OK on my laptop then looks dark when uploaded to Flicker. Don't know what I'm doing wrong :-(

Yes, I find it much harder on my laptop than on my pc, so i try to use my pc all the time.

On my laptop, which has one of those shiny reflective screens, i find moving the angle of the screen a little bit makes a such a big difference to the brightness, colour and tones that I don't really trust it.

i am not sure what the answer is.:)

Hi

I've just tried manually uploading some photos to Flickr instead of the built-in share option and the pictures look like they do on my computer....guess this is the way forward :)
Just hope everyone else can see the difference

The edited Rustic is a cracker... Great subject and the DOF works beautifully!

Love the sky and the reflections in the water in the edited Angle, good idea too.

I like the composition in Vertical, but the post not quite being vertical niggles me a tiny bit.

Vertical looks a lot better now colour & contrast wise, looks like you solved that. It's a lovel simple composition that I like a lot, but I have to say though that ironically the picture needs to be straightened up. As DK would say "it's on the wonk"!

Hi Anita,
i won't add to the vertical discussion :D
Its bang on theme, great composition and a simple subject but effective nonetheless. Good work

Hi Anita, since Value and Angle are at the bottom of the page, I'm commenting without seeing anyone else's.

Value: the sixpence is great, lovely texture and detail. Maybe just a touch soft at the very top? However, the background doesn't seem quite right, as if it's been added in post rather than from the original shot (something to do with perspective, I guess).

Angle: I've been wondering when someone would use fishing! However, this one is quite shy about making its point; would it be better with the angler more up front in the frame? The rest of the image doesn't quite seem strong enough on its own to carry the shot with just an added angling hint. Sorry, that's all a bit negative; hope to make amends with the next couple of pages...

Hi Anita, the brightened Angle pic really does work better, and the edited Rustic shot and Vertical are also very nice. Still not sure whether Vertical is quite vertical... but since the signal support is not parallel-sided, maybe it can't be.

EDIT: have now seen the straightened version: terrific, well done there. I think we all take wonky shots; thank heaven for PP tools, I say!

I realise that posting several photos all at once is not in the true spirit of a weekly 52 project but I am just glad to have something to post at all :)

Next job...get around to commenting on other people's posts...my apologies to you all

Pattern - Great, really effective.

Below - Nice clean lines and a touch of light to enhance it.

Size - Good idea well executed.

Kind - A nice holiday snap or advertising type photo, come to lake view :) a good use of the light.

Hi Anita

well done on the mega catch up...

Pattern.....well spotted & framed , the greens really pop against the yellows :)

Movement......just about right ...you caught the motion in the windymill really well... :)

1 of a kind...perfect advertising shot....in slightly more muted tones it could like it was lifted from an original VW magazine  Loving that camper van as well....perfect home form home with the freedom of the freedom of the road...excellent

Below...like how the shute leads in form the bottom left corner , a hint of sun glinting of the structure

Greed...oh yes....but looks scrummy none the less & like that you caught some of the smoke :)

Size...can see what you were going for but for me , the weakest of the shots posted...sorry

So very well done on your catch up.

Its not easy once you fall behind but you've cracked it.

pattern is my favourite.

nicely caught up
of all of them the camper van for me, I am not a car person have no interest in them at all but I do love a camper van, looks like it could do with a slight straighten though
A little more movement in movement would have been nice but it looks like a bright day so getting a low enough shutter speed would have been difficult
pattern looks better larger although the focus is a bit soft

well done for keeping it going
