great photo - its marked private on flickr though so I can't see a bigger version
I think its a tad overcropped top and bottom and the metronome itself could do with brightening up a bit imho.

I've just done my shot, which is of basically the same model metronome, but your background is way more interesting than mine!

Sorry...hopefully remedied the flicker problem.....photo looks darker on there than on my computer...don't know why that is.
I can see what you mean about the tight crop. I haven't actually cropped the top or bottom of the photo so maybe I needed to pull back a little. Must admit that after about 4 hours of trying to set this up, linking camera to laptop, crawling backwards and forwards on floor, getting into pose, taking shot and then crawling back to have a closer look on laptop, I'd had enough lol.
I'll take a look at your 'time' shot.
 
Lovely looking image, agree the metronome needs brightening a bit. Great looking background.

your edited version of time is , to me, perfect...good bit of motion caught & a very interesting background...lovely shot :clap:

really minor crit...you've just clipped the bottom front leg of the metronome by about 3 mm

Thanks. I think that I have learned a lot today. One of the things being to pull back a bit, get a slighly wider shot and then have something to crop. You can put back what wasnt there in the first place :)
 
Good job with the edit, I think you could have pushed it a bit further without the background becoming blown out

I know it's not a competition, but overall I prefer your metronome shot to my own :)
 
Hi, I do wish sometimes that I could play an instrument.

The edit is much better and the overall composition is good; and you've got some nice motion blur in the metronome.

Crit has been mentioned.

Edit is much better with that boost in light. I like the composition also, albeit it's a bit too tight of a crop - but not by much. :)
 
Hi - bit of a catch up I'm afraid.

Wild a little bit shoehorned to fit the theme...can't make out what is happening wiht the levels but is probably straight but just those to the left are on abit of ahill?

Space- a bit dark maybe , but perfectly straight and good comp.

Work--like it , good motion blur and on the theme

Gluttony - right on theme , good colors , very sharp. Partic like the 2 plates and notes which make this shot stand out from others of cakes.

Lovely shot for time - you've done really well to catch movement in the metronome (which was obviously the intention), as well as having a shallow DOF to get the blurred background as well, especially in a sunlit room. :clap:

agree a bit more space all round would work, you've got a great background, which is as much the shot as the metronome itself. Shoot wide, then you can choose what to include and what to crop out!
 
Very nice shot Anita. Really good focus on the metronome and capturing the swing. Great blur and lighting in the background, as pointed out cropped a little tight to the tip of the metronome and I think also the end of the flute but nevertheless, a fabulous composition.
Difficult but beautiful instrument to play - Good luck.

Good idea. Looks a tad grey overall and it can be difficult to meter with darks and lights.

It's a bit close, for me.

Great image and spot on theme.

I had this idea too but couldn't make it work.
 
Great shot, adding the jewellery to the heels and the socks to the boots adds more to the shot for me. Just find the boots a tad dark and I'm loosing them into the background.

Hi, Anita, Letter, liking the composition and detail throughout. Nice colours in the brickwork.

There perspective is a bit off, for me with the top of the brickwork running along the upper edge of the frame but the bottom not.

See what you mean about brickwork line. Any thoughts on how to correct this next time? Is it the angle of the camera?
 
yep - loving the detail, texture and colours in the bricks, perspective not a problem for me, verticals on the letter box spot on which is what matters for me ;).

Might have been easier on the eye shot from the other side, so the eye is drawn left to right, and I'm possibly seeing focus not on the letterbox, but on the brick before it?? (Writing and times on the box not seeming competely sharp.)

But that's only really noticable when looking at the larger version....
 
Yes would have taken it left to right but wasn't enough wall the other side. I agree the focus is not sharp on writing. I seem to have caught the edge of the actual lip of the box rather than the flat part with the writing. It was a bit precarious taking the photo on a narrow path whilst looking out for traffic :-) Enjoying these assignments. Certainly taking lots more photos and learning lots.
 
Anita, you SHALL go to the ball! Very much like juxtaposition; as others have said, maybe a bit dark. I too like the jewellery and sock.

Letter is also nice; I'm happy with the perspective lines, which are pretty hard to avoid, and do lead the eye to the box. I agree though that you have slightly missed focus.

Why do people think it would better on the right, I wonder?
 
None of those......clue is its near the Amazon depot, McDonalds & Premier Inn......all of which I think I managed to keep out of photo.
Thick fog when I arrived and could only see the very bottom of the towers. Two cups of Mac D coffee and a visit to a garden centre later, the sun had broken through. Glad I didn't just turn around and go home.
 
I really like the composition and the muted palette. Almost looks like toy town come to life.

Annoyed that I missed part of the tower on right but was lucky to get anything because of heavy fog when I arrived.

Nail, hit, head in the bold Anita, that is certainly the spirit of doing the 52. :thumbs:
Juxtaposition, nice concept, bang on theme. A few wee tweaks in pp and that is spot on.

Letter, again bang on theme. I will just echo what others have said but with reference to your post quoted above. Not worth injury or worse for a photograph, safety is paramount.

Electric, again bang on theme, I particularly like #2 those cooling towers make for good subjects. Maybe try a long exposure next time just to add a little something.

Well done on getting out there and taking photographs, especially not going home when the weather wasn't playing, your patience paid off.
