weekly Anita's 52 week thread 2013

Hi Anita

welcome to the 52's madhouse :D

We're a friendly bunch so any questions feel free to ask away , & look forward to seeing your shots

Hi Anita....

well done for your 1st image....I love the green & yellow colors , work really well together
Given the huge range of images this theme has thrown up I'd maybe not have put the S in to turn Gin to Sin...for me the bottle with the writing on speaks of Sin in it;s onw righty ( I'm not even sure any of that actually made sense but I know what I meant  ) There's someting strange going on with the angles as well ( though that could be the effect you get with G&T's !)...the glass & bottle are leaning....but in opposite directions ?

ps....just clicked through to your flickr to veiw it larger.....Bird of Prey 1...simply stunning...beautiful shot

Hi
I've tried to post my photo in the 52 in 2013 thread but think I'm doing something wrong as the picture doesnt appear :-(

Thanks for your comments Lynne. I see what you mean about the angles but not sure how to correct that but will have a look. Not due to any sampling of the gin I promise :-D

Hi
I've tried to post my photo in the 52 in 2013 thread but think I'm doing something wrong as the picture doesnt appear :-(

hmmmm...I'm not the most 'puter friendly person....whatever you did to post the image in this thread repeat it in the Pictures thread & all should be good

So from flicker click grab the bb code , copy & paste the code that gives you straight in the thread...I think you copied the Link to the picture rather than the BB code ?

Hope that helps

I love the colours on this, I don;t have enough experience to comment too much on the technical aspects but it certainly fits the brief.

As for getting pictures in the no comments thread you have t do the same you did here. The first post explains how to link your picture back to this link, rather than how to get your picture from flickr

at least that is what I think you are having issues with, I can be dense at times :-)

Thanks guys.....think I've done it now. Phew!

Great first image, I don't mind the angles here - ther's nothing to say for sure what is horizontal or vertical, so nothing looks off to me.

I like the replacement of the G for an S, makes the shot different, and I love the beads of condesnation on the glass and the yellow and green colours are fab!

Another linky thing to get your head round is if you include a link back to your own thread from your post in the main picture thread, it'll be easier for anyone seeing that to navigate into this thread

Think I've managed to add link. On a steep learning curve here and that's even before I think about the photography :-)

That's really nice :) Lovely colours, and a nice close crop, with good focus.

Looking forward to seeing the next 51 from you :)

really like the lighting on this, good luck with your 52!

Nice colour in there but the glass does look like its floating a bit, good luck with your 52

Its great to get feedback from people about my photos. The lighting used in this one was two of the cheapest IKEA desk lamps. The glass has stem on it ( also from IKEA, I promise I'm not on commission lol) so that would explain the appearance of it floating. Comments have set me thinking about how I might have done this shot to hopefully improve it. I do have an idea of how I would change it and given time may get around to trying it out. Watch this space lol.

Hi, there, good humour here...and I'm a fan of injecting humour :D

Nice close composition. Decent lighting on the bottle.

The sticker is coming away slightly and personally I would have removed the glass.

Good start.

Cheers.

I like the S on the bottle but that angle on the glass draws my eye away, couldn't even offer advise on how to straighten it sorry but love the idea and colours.

Firstly I would like to state that in my opinion there is nothing whatsoever sinful about Gordons (Bombay etc etc) :)

I like the colours in the photos and feel if maybe the yellow had continued right up between the bottle and glass the stem of the glass might be a little more obvious and not look quite so floaty?

I think the image is as refreshing as what it portrays! id have made the S slightly smaller and not as see through maybe with card or somthing. I like the yellow with red ink tho well done

Hi Anita,

Fantastic colours in this photo and portrays the theme perfectly for me!

The only thing i dont like (and please take this in the nicest way) is the "s" stuck on the Gin bottle, it looks a little tacky imo. i think you could of still done this very effectively if you could have photoshopped it so that it looked like the bottle originally said Sin, imo this would of been alot more subtle and quite a quirky detail that may go unnoticed at the first glance

Danny

Thanks for comments.
Peoples comments have given me much to think about, such as how I would tackle this photo again. What I would keep and what I would change. I like the idea of using Photoshop to change the writing on the bottle rather than use post-it but I am even newer to Photoshop than using my DSLR. Slowly learning but it can be a bit daunting when you open it up and see all those different options to choose from! But at least I have the ideas now and just have to make the time and put in the effort to try them out.
Can't wait to see the new topic tomorrow!

I see what you were going for, maybe you should have included the sunglasses more maybe some other holiday props too

I did think about adding some sun tan lotion but threw old stuff away last week!! Lol

Hi Anita
I am late in getting to your 52, apologies.
Good start to the year, I particularly like the vibrant colours in your sin image.
It is a nice creative touch to add the post it note, it has taken it away from being a straightforward image to one with a little twist, good thinking
Season, again bang on theme which with the addition of a few more props, would really nail it. All round good work, not long until the next theme. Iain

Hi Anita

Season - good idea for theme but a bit too tight a crop for me. Like others would have liked to have seen ,say, an open brochure and a cup of coffee or tea to convey relaxation whilst perusing the brochures. So, good idea which I think needs a little more.

New theme tomorrow

Nice idea and works well for season.

Thanks for comments. Guess I need to take ideas a bit further but this is why I took on this project.....to stretch my thinking and make me take more photos. Certainly doing that lol.
Now for new theme....gravity! Hmmmmm....
