It is a simple business decision though. Most non Muslims couldn't care less how their meat was killed. And most of their muslim customers do care. So why not simplify your business by limiting the perishable supplies, handling etc and cost such that you make a better margin. If, and I think it is a big IF, they loose a few customers then it will still be financially worth it.I'd wager the store appeals to British entnicity more but still it caters (not just in a few stores) but 200 all accross the UK to change their menue to a Muslim pleasing one.
Seems odd?
I like western customs, western ways. If I wanted to live under Islam I'd move to an established Muslim one. I don't want to see militant nut jobs spread it here and I feel if those here don't like western life, they should leave/be made to leave and never come back
Surely no areas in Britain are 99.9% Islam,
Didn't someone spout off there are only a few areas over 50% Muslim. Why would a company need to change its policy for 200 outlets accross the UK unless that figure is very false? Less than 10% of the populatiuon and it makes business sense to change the policies of stores accross the whole of the UK. Less than 10% my backside, or unless they are scared of the particularly vociferous minority of people here that practice islam...
Here it is
Are you telling us that the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation is Chinese? That's disgusting!I have no issues with these communities at all, of course I don't, but they have not abided by what you would class as 'British' customs.
Have you visited Chinatown in London? Schools, churches, supermarkets - even the HSBC bank is Chinese.
Stamford Hill - the same - Orthodox Jewish community.
These cultures have spread and are established. You must live in a very remote place if you're not aware of other cultures that isn't 'born and bred British' existing, and have existed for years, in this country.
its good business sense to increase the sale of what already sells and decrease the surplus stock of what doesn't. it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with islamification (thats not even a word by the way).
personally i dont care about halal. the last 30 seconds of an animals life are pretty insignificant when the outcome is the same (death). plus there are some dodgy practicing abattoirs out there doing it the "normal" way, so don't tell me one method is crueler than the other.
Would you not wish to do everything possible now, to avoid living by Sharia law. I know I would.
I have a genuine question for @ST4
My mother is Greek. My father is British. Growing up I spent my summers in Athens and the rest of the year hear for school. My favourite food in the while world is wrapped pork gyros. I would genuinely like to see every single fish and chip shop the length and breadth of this country replaced by a gyros stand/souvlaki shop.
Wiothout moving your own goalposts, are my views seen as incompatible with 'British values' and should I be forced to renounce my British passport and move to Greece?
despite being born and bred here I think my life is richer for the country being a melting pot of different cultures. For the most part embracing or atleast tolerating each other. I think life would be considerably poorer without that multicultrualism. Don't you?

The RSPCA wants changes in the law to improve animal welfare at slaughter. The Farm Animal Welfare Committee concluded in their report:
"Slaughter without pre-stunning is unacceptable and that the Government should repeal the current exemption”
To give it some balance and not just singling one religion out that includes Shechita (Jewish) and Halal (Muslim) customs of killing without pre-stunning.
Drool Gyros. With or without chips?
But @ST4
Am I British if I want those things?
Also, you despise alcohol. So surely your views on that subject are incompatible with the vast, vast majority of the British public. Should we demand you move to a dry country?
I vote for that, with a nuance. I would like to see it as an addition to the menu rather than replacing it. And whilst we are at it, let's add a proper Shoarma to it as well.I have a genuine question for @ST4

I think this should be the closing post ROFLMAOI do despise it. I've thought about moving to a dry one, but they are all Islamic ones. .
I do despise it. I've thought about moving to a dry one, but they are all Islamic ones. Lesser of two evils I choose between. I'd have loved America in the 1920's.
thats the thing, if 99.9% of their customers want halal and/or nobody is picking the pork for their sub then the business will change.
its not rocket science, supply and demand 101.
Fully agree. A business is a commercial entity and I'm confident they know much better than what any of us on here thinks their customers want.
No different than many supermarkets which have lines relevant to the area that they are in.
Btw they'll still do their foot long meatball chilli cheese meltyum yum
I'm sure you would love it in an Islamic country though. No alcohol unless, you know, you want to buy some and then you can with no problem whatsoever. They also have a cavalier attitude to road safety and they don't like dogs!
I'm more surprised that you haven't already gone to live in the middle east already to be honest!
So after the thick end of 950 posts we have finally got to the bottom of the issue @ST4 is a closet Muslim.

Sounds good, I'd probably love it when you paint it like that. But the language, strict religious culture and laws around that religion would put me off more than the allure of bribing my way out of 140mph driving, and not having to see drunkards or dogs.
You have it all wrong. None of that except for the language would apply to you. You would be able to carry on your life as you live it in this country just somewhere dead hot with dust storms. The religious laws don't apply to you. You can drink, eat and buy pork, even go to church. A good friend of mine works in Qatar and reports back to me on these issues.
Who would happily settle in a foreign land but he can't be arsed to learn the language...
You couldn't make it up.
Yes, because Sharia law, Ramadan, Halal, arranged marriages, extremist fanatics is all what I want here...not...
ExactlyHuh?
Ok just British people with British customs. Jeez.
Do you wish to see Islam grow and its customs spill into everyones life here. Yes or no?
I have another question for @ST4
Apart from moaning about the weather and queueing up, could you please make a list of British values for me?

Fox hunting a British value? Honestly? That's a bit of a stretch isn't it?
What about equal rights for the LGBT community? Freedom of worship?
Use both barrels...just to make sure![]()
